FSU (-8.5) vs Auburn: **Top Pick** Auburn can win it but I think FSU simply has too many horses. A great offense and defense is better than a great offense alone.

Alabama (-14.5) vs Oklahoma: **Top Pick** Alabama is the best team in the nation, the Iron Bowl notwithstanding.

Houston (-2.5) vs Vanderbilt: **Top Pick** Going with the 'Dores and their defense here.

Oklahoma State vs Missouri (-1.5): **Top Pick** A shootout. Either can win, but I'll go with Mizzou.

Iowa vs LSU (-7.5): **Top Pick** LSU rolls, even though Iowa has played better late in the year.

Wisconsin (-1.5) vs South Carolina: **Top Pick** Going with Gamecock defense to win it.

Nebraska vs Georgia (-8.5): **Top Pick** Dawgs have had a month to heal and be more like the Gerogia team in August. Nebraska stumbled against good teams.

Duke vs Texas A&M (-11.5): **Top Pick** I like the Dookies, and they will move the ball well on the Aggies' hapless defense, but their defense isn't enough to go toe-to-toe with Manziel.

Rice (-6.5) vs Mississippi State: **Top Pick** Rice is solid this year, but they are still a mid-major. Bulldogs cover the spread.

Georgia Tech vs Mississippi (-2.5): Rebels have a decent rush defense, but got gashed by Auburn. Georgia Tech lost a close one to Georgia, but played relatively well, beating the teams they should beat.

FSU (-8.5) vs Auburn - TOP PICK. Auburn hangs close for a while but FSU pulls away late. Damn, I hope I'm wrong!
Alabama (-14.5) vs Oklahoma - I just don't see Bama getting up for this game after the expectation of playing for the MNC. This may be like the 2008 Sugar Bowl against Utah. I don't know that Bama loses, but I don't see them playing an inspired game.
Houston (-2.5) vs Vanderbilt - I can't see Houston being favored in this game played so close to Birmingham.
Oklahoma State vs Missouri (-1.5) - Mizzou shows the Big-12 how much better the SEC has made them, especially on defense.
Iowa vs LSU (-7.5) - LSU speed versus Iowa should be a mismatch.
Wisconsin (-1.5) vs South Carolina - This could be one of the more evenly matched bowl games, but understand how the higher ranked team with more speed is the underdog.
Nebraska vs Georgia (-8.5) - I expect Aaron Murray to have a big final game.
Duke vs Texas A&M (-11.5) - A&M should roll over an overrated Duke team.
Rice (-6.5) vs Mississippi State - On paper, Rice looks like the better team, but I'll take the SEC.
Georgia Tech vs Mississippi (-2.5) - GT has lost 7 of it's last 8 bowl games, only beating a USC team that gave up on it's coach. Teams with a month to prepare for the GT option offense, who have the physical talent usually find a way to shut them down.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out but I think this is a VERY down year overall for the SEC, but the conference really seems to have some very favorable bowl match-ups.

    Bowl Schedule

    FSU (-8.5) vs Auburn

-Bobby Bowden used to have a saying that he'd say now and then. He'd say his alumni wouldn't remember NC's but they would remember wins over UF. His point was that NC's were mythical. He made the comment more than once and he said it mostly when NC's were decided by polls not the BCS or its predecessor. However, the comment is critical as to why FSU would lose games like this when BB was the coach and why Nole fans like me were against BB way before he was finally tosses out on his lazy ass.

-It is mind boggling that a guy making a couple million a year would basically say he didn't need to take games like this seriously. BB would mail in his game plan, the same one he used every week, it included super tricky things like calling a screen or draw on third and long to trick the defense, Bob Stoops said, after OU beat FSU 13-2 in 2000, he knew what FSU would do from his time at UF! He didn't even really have to look at film much!

-Anyway, the point is, if you are going to give 8.5 points to the SEC Champ it is because Jimbo Fisher is a real coach. He will have a game plan ready. Jimbo won't sit on his laurels or spend the holidays napping. If Aub can't get their running game going or if Aub makes a few mistakes, FSU is going to roll their asses all the way back to Toomer's corner. I'm not saying Aub has to play a perfect game but Aub needs to play pretty close to how well they closed the year. On the other hand, it is very very difficult to turn down 8.5 points and get the SEC Champs.

-I think the long lay off will hurt the Tigers more than the Noles b/c the Tigers were red hot to close the year and b/c the Noles are a more balanced team that can beat you multiple ways. Aub has questions in their D and passing game, etc. FSU has tackled well all year. I think FSU is a better team but in a one game scenario anything can happen. I'm going to take Aub and the points. I think the Noles will find a way to win but it will be close and there is a 50% chance Aub wins out right so take the points!

    Alabama (-14.5) vs Oklahoma

-I really don't care. Too obscenely boring teams. I'll lay the points because I think OU is overrated.

    Houston (-2.5) vs Vanderbilt

-I'll lay the points because I think HOU is pretty good.

    Oklahoma State vs Missouri (-1.5)

-I really don't care. Two more seriously boring teams. I'll lay the points because I think Okie Light will win. Mizzou is suffering from a serious hangover after Aub rushed for 900 some odd yards against them. Geez, do you think you might need to get out of that lame 3 man line and, I don't know, maybe bring in a few guys who can shed blocks and aren't afraid to freaking tackle!!!

    Iowa vs LSU (-7.5)

-LSU should roll them even with Pornberger at QB. Look out if LSU ever finds a real QB. With all the future NFL talent coming out of Louisiana and the TX area that LSU recruits, if LSU ever gets a real QB they will be worth watching.

    Wisconsin (-1.5) vs South Carolina

-Once again I am pretty sure I don't care. Why is Wisky favored? Take the points and the Cocks.

    Nebraska vs Georgia (-8.5)

-Lay the points. Nebr is horrible. And Nebr's players hate their own coach.

    Duke vs Texas A&M (-11.5)

-Duke has no chance. Lay the points. This is my back up the truck pick. This is the worst Peach Bowl game in 30 years.

    Rice (-6.5) vs Mississippi State

-Why is Rice in a bowl? Why does Rice sponsor a football program! Why is Rice favored over anything other than a JR Midget Pop Warner team?

    Georgia Tech vs Mississippi (-2.5)

-Interesting match up, actually. I'll take GT and the points.

I'm going to guess you didn't see Mizzou play much. Other than our game and part of the Miami game, I really didn't see FSU play much either.

In my opinion, Mizzou was one of the most entertaining teams I saw play all year, not just in the SEC, but in all of college football. Okey State is usually pretty fun to watch too.

    ATL,

You might right. On 2nd thought, Mizzou has great WR's (I like them 6'5 guys that can run) and runs a fast paced modern offense. Their DL is good despite what Aub did to them. I think you make a good point. Mizzou isn't boring.

3 starting SEC QBs are out: Georgia, Vandy & LSU.
It definitely made a difference in the poodles' loss and LSU not covering.
Yet the mighty SEC is 5-1 in bowl games through New Years Day 2014.
