Goodyear plans a two-day NASCAR Sprint Cup Series tire test April 16-17 at Daytona International Speedway as a prep for the July 6 Coke Zero 400.

The test will run from 5 to 10 p.m. on the first day and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 17.

The April 16 test will not be open to the public or media. The Oldfield Grandstand will be open to spectators for the second day of testing. Race fans may access the viewing area through the lobby of the Speedway Ticket and Tours Building. There is no charge to watch testing.

The drivers and teams tentatively scheduled to test are: Jamie McMurray of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing; Kasey Kahne and Regan Smith, Hendrick Motorsports; Danica Patrick, Stewart Haas Racing; Greg Biffle, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Carl Edwards, Roush Fenway Racing; Trevor Bayne, Wood Brothers Racing; Austin Dillon, Circle Sport; and a car from Joe Gibbs Racing (driver to be announced).

I read a story of a race where Country singer/Racecar driver Marty Robbins and Coo-Coo Marlin were battling it out at Nashville. Marty was told it was almost time for him to go on at the Opry so he pulled in the pits and then left. Coo-Coo didn't know about Marty pulling in so he just kept putting his foot through the floor trying to catch someone who had already left. haha

I remember those cars and races. They were all different and you could tell the various makes. Now they all look alike.

"Fireball" Roberts and his Pontiacs back in the 50s and 60s!

Fireball won the beach race in this car in 1955 and was disqualified for shortened pushrods.

I took this one. 1985 Darlington. Bill Elliott leading Cale Yarborough with only 7 laps to go on his way to winning the first ever Winston Million bonus for winning 3 of 4 'major' races that year.

Fireball Roberts was my dad's favorite driver. Dad said he was devastated the day Fireball died.

Sorry, hard to take the new ALMS seriously when you see BMW's running down Vettes and Vipers.

You can not be taken seriously because there is no new ALMS. Just a new BMW Z4.

You're still butt-hurt about Logano (who would have beaten the s*** out of Stewart). You know very well that I had the merger in mind (which has produced watered-down racing). On no other planet would a BMW run with a Vette or a Viper. It's shameless 'performance-balancing', make-believe stuff.

The merger begins next year(2014). You said it has already produced watered-down racing.

So, the merger doesn't take place until next year ? Hell, that's even worse.

BTW, check out my new bumper sticker, sourpuss:

    HONK IF YOU'VE BEATEN TONY STEWART'S A**!
