Add Gibson to the list of players drafted. Gibby was taken with the 210th overall selection by the Diamondback. I think we've seen the last of him in orange and blue.

Nick, do you have any info about why Puk is dropping so far?

With AJ Puk, Pete Alonso, Sternagel, Dylan Barrow, Karsten Whitson and Brett Morales still undrafted, I think this looks good for Kevin O'Sullivan to keep a good portion of his recruiting class together as well as keep some key pieces of the roster intact.

There were a lot of rumors leading up to the draft that he didn't want to give up hitting (which he would have to do if he went pro) and that he was going to go to school. Puk was projected to go in the 1st-2nd round so this is a huge drop for him.

Maybe the rumors were true, but I really like Florida's chances of getting Puk on campus. He's an immediate impact player.

Closing in on end of ninth and still...only Brady chosen since start of third. This is REALLY good.

Looks like a lot of good freshman coming to Gainesville. I'm telling you guys, next years team is going to be MUCH improved. Getting Whitson and Kish back will be huge. We should be hosting a regional and back to being competitive next season. So far a good draft for the gators, and some telling signs. Good job by Sully. Not over yet.

Don't forget about Daniel Gibson... unless you're only talking about recruits.

The Tenth Round has ended. If I am right this has been a spectacular day for our Gators.

Bleed, You mentioned on the other page how teams could switch money. Did you imply this could only be done in the first ten innings?

No, what I was saying is that each team has a limit to the money that they can spend in the first 10 rounds. If they are unable to sign a player, they do not get that money back to spend on the other draft picks. Therefore, they have to be pretty sure that they can sign each one of their picks so as to not lose that money.

Does it help us then that we got out of the first ten rounds with the vast bulk of this class still selected?

Fixed it for you. I think it is very positive for us that we only had 3 incoming players picked in the first 10 rounds. I believe the money in the following rounds can only be $100,000 and if they pay more than that, then it counts against the limit of money that they have for the first 10 rounds.

Posted question about Puk on the other thread, but it does seem like good news for Gator fans . . . not necessarily for Gator players (signees).

I'd think if drafted outside of first 5 or 6 rounds, guys would probably think they could improve draft status and $ by proving themselves in SEC ball.

    Bleed? Explain this non sequitor:

"the money in the following rounds can only be $100,000 and if they pay more than that, then it counts against the limit of money that they have for the first 10 rounds.

Sorry gatorfan, not doing a very good job with my explanations. The slot values are only guidelines for each team. They can pay more than the slot values, but if they go over their allotted team amount in the first 10 rounds, then they have to pay penalties. In rounds 11-40, the slot value is $100,000. They can go over that amount, but any overage counts against the money they have available to pay their players in the first 10 rounds. This link from baseball ameica explains it better than I can:

Appreciated. My main point is: Is getting past that tenth round HUGE for us retaining more of that class?

I'm getting rather excited about all this. Only three chosen so far from the Nation's #1 Ranked recruit class and it's looking like we retain a much larger portion than originally thought.
