    Good post, thanks.

I suspect that even if Bama, Vandy and Mizzou all win their games to take the SEC to 8-1, all we'll ever hear about in the media is how the conference has been 'dethroned' or something if the Noles defeat Auburn...

Confirms so far what most people thought. SEC is the best conference, and the PAC-12 is #2. The PAC had a real chance of going 8-1, but WSU and Leach had poor clock management at the end (could have taken a knee and punted with a 8 point lead with about 15 seconds left), and Stanford's play calling was stubborn to say the least in the Rose Bowl.

SEC was pretty close to undefeated so far, too. The dropped pass on fourth down in the Georgia game. That being said, Texas A&M could have easily lost to Duke as well.

On another note, did anyone else listen to Brent Musburger blowing the Big 10 last night following Michigan State's Rose Bowl win. They are 2-4 with 3-4 being the best they could finish up. I am actually pulling for Ohio State to win that game.

Updated to reflect that ass kicking that Alabama took last night.

I HIGHLY doubt GA loses to NE if they both have their starting QBs. SEC has looked good this year with a lot of veteran QBs.

Well, to Nebraska's defense, they were missing their record-setting QB as well.

But if Georgia's TE catches that pass on fourth down, they win. He dropped a victory.

It is simply not a legitimate comparison of conferences to look at their bowl records.

If, all the conferences played roughly the same number of games against every other conference with better teams playing better teams and lesser teams playing lesser teams, then such a comparison makes a certain amount of sense, but this is a very limited number of games.

By the way, the first one is the American Athletic, not the ACC.

Exactly why I think it's important. They used to be middle of the pack in their very best years with Chase Daniels at QB. The SEC has been pounding it's chest how no team can come in and play the schedule we play week after week... A&M and Mizzu have proved they can, but we need Mizzu to show they've improved from a middle of the pack Big12 football team because of what they've been through the last 2 seasons.

Sure, UGA played with a back up QB. So did Nebr. as someone pointed out. Duke had a starting OT out and lost 2 OL during the game. So, if it gets into if's, and and buts you can defend anything.

It matters and the SEC is the best even though the SEC takes on the best of the rest of the nation. They are still the best. I'll give credit where credit is due. Even if the SEC isn't as dominant as usual it is still the best. You can "less dominant" and still be the best.

However, having said that, I think Bob Stoops is smart to be taking a little jack after beating Bama. His team backed him up by winning that game after his preseason comments. He also points out Mizzou and TXAM are doing pretty good in the SEC after not exactly dominating the Big-12. Good point. Why does it matter? Preseason polls for one thing. The fact that 2 loss SEC teams are rated ahead of one loss teams from other conferences which chaps my ass.

    More importantly, it affects recruiting.

Look at the team rankings. Nothing every changes. It looks a lot like the polls. Half the top 10 is SEC teams. There you go. That is all you need to know.

I watched the last 5 minutes of the Georgia Nebraska game, is there a reason why down by 5 well passed the field goal green line Richt didn't just kick it? They then get the ball back, drive into field goal territory again and have to go for it again. Was their kicker hurt?

I think you are understating Mizzou s record in the big 12, especially under Chase Daniels. They won 10 and 12 games in his last 2 seasons, losing in the Big 12 championship game twice. That's a lot better than middle of the pack.
