What is triggering all of this? It is senseless are we to easy on criminals is it to much violence on TV movies and video games or what. I dont thank gun control is the answer because just like locks on a door people will get guns if they want them. So how we have to send a message that this will not be put up with

Two people are dead and two boys are in critical condition after a shooting Monday at a middle school in Nevada, authorities say.

Angela Rambo, a spokeswoman for the Renown Regional Hospital, said both patients injured in the shooting at Sparks Middle School in Sparks, Nev., were males, the Reno Gazette-Journal reports.

The suspect in the shooting has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, City Manager Shawn Carey says. Another person – who was not identified – also was killed, police say.

A Sparks police dispatcher said reports of the shooting started coming in at 7:16 a.m. Monday. The area is now secure.

Because the media sensationalizes the shooter and not the victims. I bet everyone can name a bunch of mass shooters, but how many victims? This isn't a problem with guns, this is a problem with our culture, mainly driven by the vulture like media we have. Anything for a story!

Without more info it is hard to say what happened but with only 2 adults dead, one being the shooter, it sounds more like a murder/suicide lovers fight. The kids were collateral damage not the targets.

But as I said more information is needed.

How would you suggest the media cover these shootings?

How about the same way the LA Times covers anyone who dares to disagree with THEIR agenda?

How about lets not have every news-paper in the country run his name, his background, possible reasons he did this etc etc etc for weeks upon weeks after the shooting occurred. Or how about they don't use the victims names ONLY to try to bring about irrelevant gun laws that won't change a thing. Thats a start.

Could you name any victim of any shooting, ever? I bet you can't. I cant..

So, no letters to the editor denying the existence of school shooters then.

Why? This seems like information people actually want. I remember a number of stories about the lives of the victims of Aurora and Sandy Hook, so I'm not sure I buy that angle either.

So you don't want the shooters' names or backgrounds published? Really?

What do you think the howls from the right would have been had the media done that with Fort Hood?

Do you have trouble reading or comprehending, or both?

I didn't say to never post their information, I said don't spend weeks doing it. After a shooting thats all they do and oh by the way a few kids might have died...

right, i can't read as well as you do.
your description of the coverage ("oh by the way a few kids might have died") is BS. Complete, childish BS.

I haven't read the details, and it probably doesn't apply if adults are involved in a love-hate, jelousy thing, but is anybody else sick of seeing advertisments for creepy video games on tv (not that tv is not creepy a lot in its own right) ?

You know the ones where dueling, smug satisfaction smiling, weapons-weilding gangs confront each other, blazing away with magic bullets that never hit the heroes but only bit players, and that blow up people - bad guys of some sort, of course - on the other side ? Like killing things can really be fun ?

Do you wonder in a common sense kind of way if kids who see this stuf could have implanted in their immature brains and sensibilities, a fanciful idea of pain, injury, and death ?

Could these things actually enhance those immature notions ?

    My common sense screams yes.

I don't actively watch the news unless I hear about something on here or from someone else. I don't have friends who watch news religiously either. So I couldn't tell you who the Oregon shooter is you're talking about.

So, you're just assuming things about the news, the media coverage of shootings and what people remember based on what is at best, hearsay. Way to go.
