the generosity of the american taxpayer has no bounds

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/01/13/us-usa-medicare-pumps-idUSBREA0C1OW20140113?p=BREA0C1OX

Reuters) - Penis pumps cost the U.S. government's Medicare program $172 million between 2006 and 2011, about twice as much as the consumer would have paid at the retail level, according to a government watchdog's report released on Monday.
The report by the inspector general for the Department of Health and Human Services said Medicare, the government health insurance system for seniors, paid nearly 474,000 claims for vacuum erection systems (VES) totaling about $172.4 million from 2006 to 2011. Yearly claims for the devices nearly doubled from $20.6 million in 2006 to $38.6 million in 2011.

i wonder what lobbying group helped get this approved by medicare? hopefully now that there's actually been press, it'll come to a screeching halt.
i do hope you're not blaming this on obama. he had nothing to do with it.

A little research on the subject revealed the following. at least with respect to the overpayment for the devices.

Considering that Congress expressly prohibited competitive bidding by Medicare for prescription drugs under Part D, I wouldn't be surprised if the same doesn't apply to the pumps although more likely indirectly rather than directly.

I'm reconsidering doing business with the government. Have always turned down opportunities to do so. But if I can charge twice as much as I could in the private sector, who wouldn't?

Government should not run anything. Due to who is hired to work for government, those of us paying the tab are getting ripped a new one.

To heck with Viagra. A penis pump sounds like fun if it works. Do you need a prescription? My doctor gave me some free Viagra samples. I wonder if he'll give me a free pump. He's a real stand-up guy.

I Googled the things and found that they cost from $300 to $500. If you bought one for $10, if I were you I wouldn't use it. (I hope this advice isn't too late.)

In attempting to distance herself from ObamaCare, Hillary Clinton condemns ObamaCare's provision of "penis pumps" to Medicare-Eligible males. She says they just lead to the drudgery of repeated demands for penis-pump therapy. Hillary uses the Vacuum-Shredder instead because "once is enough," which is why she says "Every bedroom should have one."

If a penis pump costs $300, I don't know any women who are worth it. I'd have to find one who is willing to foot the bill.
