And unfortunately "Obamacare" does little to actually curb these costs other then preventative care and creating some competition with the exchanges.

And that won't change until our Congress grows some balls and takes on the big money sponsoring their campaigns!

Very cool stuff, but how does ACA fix any of those?

As you pointed out, ACA doesn't solve any of this.

In fact, we'll spend far more on healthcare after ACA is full implemented.

We also have a finite level supply of healthcare services. If 30+ million newly insured, do you think that will drive the cost of those services up or down?

ACA will make virtually every one of those charts worse. Aren't you glad it's the law of the land?

ACA will help in the sense that it broadens the base, takes out ER care for those not on insurance, and adds preventative care.

Gov is at the mercy of Big Money and nothing will change until Congress either finds a way to create true free market competition between private insurers, pharma, health care providers, or we go Single Payer and force cost controls...

Thinking the ACA will reduce costs by increasing people's health and taking out ER care is about as silly as thinking welfare gets people back on their feet. The takers will outweigh the givers in Obamacare just like in welfare.

Why do people insist on posting things they do not understand?

You want to live in a country like the UK where they spend little on their health, where the human life isn't worth the paper they print pound notes out of?
Do you envy their dental care, too?
There is nothing wrong with paying top dollar to get the best doctors and the best care and the timeliest treatments. And in your own graphs, you show proof that these costs keep Americans from overusing the system. Less use= shorter wait times=doctors seeing less BS cases and more serious issues. Those Americans sound like smart consumers to me.

You may have to explain this. Are you saying ER's are free to dump people to the street now who do not have insurance?
Or are you saying all those people will still come in, they'll just have Medicaid cards now?
Or are you saying those lower socioeconomically challenged patients who typically bring their 2 year old into the ER at midnight for a cold are now all of a sudden going to become enlightened by Obama magic and no longer use the ER as a school nurse station?

Before Obama: deadbeats went to the ER, got the best healthcare in the world, skipped out on the bill, doctors and hospitals eat that.
After Obama: deadbeats have Medicaid, show up in the ER, taxpayers pay the bill.
And somehow, that's going to cost less?

The cost of US healthcare leads to struggling people putting things off until they become chronic. Then the costs escalate out of control.

Your comments about the UK are ludicrous.

It might broaden the base, but not in collecting premiums. At least, not initially. 100% non-participation by the youth in the 1st year since it's cheaper to pay the penalty. Once it kicks in, a couple of things could happen. One, they revolt. OWS all over again but in larger numbers. Mass bankruptcies with small businesses due to not being able to compete with their larger rivals due to not being able to offer benefits like healthcare.

    Do you realize:
    1. You're talking to someone in medicine that actually sees this stuff, not someone like you who reads charts or blogs about it
    2. Cardiac catheterizations cost the same regardless of when they are initiated, as do cancer treatments.

Until you work harder like I did and go to school and actually live over there like I did, I will treat your childish opinion with exactly the contempt it deserves.

Treat it like you should be treated?

Go correct some more misspellings with your own misspellings.

    FIFY

While I'm correcting spellings, go get out there and actually live a little. Then tell us what you find out.

This is the one that kills me. Can you pick out the country that doesn't cover all of its citizens?

We already spend enough per capita public money on health care to do the job, why don't we just do the job?
