Your concern seems a few years late and a trillion dollars short. We'll have some of ours dying either here or there no matter what we do and minimizing that while advancing our interests in the region - self defense, oil, and humanitarian goals - seems obvious enough. The reward in question appears to fall clearly within that definition.

In your other post you seem to favor some radical policy shift on Iran. What is it?

I had the same concerns then - the ramp-up to the invasion of Iraq - and articulated them, then, as well.

My concern is now, without a clear policy about terrorism and anything other than protecting the sea lanes and promising to align with Israel, what do we do with Iran's puppets ?

Continue to pretend they do not exist ? Offer bounties for pelts (so we don't have to articulate any interests or adversaries, much less, do anything about them) ?

10 Million?Yeah, that will stop Al Qaeda, just like killing OBL stopped them.
It will mean nothing, other than maybe paying out 10 million.

And people complained about them too. Anything that limits innocent people from dying (on whatever side) and protects our troops is better than the alternative, generally speaking.

would be well spent if given to the hacker that steals the data about who is paying what.

one thought might be that.Saudis are paying this to stem flow of fighters to syria. SA involvement here would not surprise me..

If they want anybody to believe they'll pay this bounty, they need to pay the $25 million to whoever blew up OBL's dialysis machine in 2001.

Killing or capturing the al qaeda leader in Iraq will accomplish nothing, as far as stopping al qaeda.Just more babble.

We have a clear policy on terrorists acts against the US - we try to avoid them, capture or kill those who plan or commit them, and try to mitigate the conditions which which lead some to attempt them, all while minimizing cost and risk.

What do you suggest we do about Iran, which is a difficult situation for us, and even more so now that we have eliminated Saddam as a regional rival?

?? Did someone say getting rid of this guy will "stop" AQ? I missed that, but surely that will be good news if true.

Formulate and articulate a clear and coherent policy regarding State sponsors of international terrorism, and implement it.

Sad part is if it happens while 0bama is in office, he will jump on it and take credit for it, then release all of the details about it to stroke his ego.
