Great early season match-up. The only problem being is the time conflict with the Gator/Wis game.

Looking forward to this tonight. We are either going to win or we are going to learn. I look forward to the challenge. I think everyone knows how I feel about this team.

Three BIG matchups tonight. Probably as good a night of regular season college basketball as I remember. I agree with Jeff. We're going to learn some things tonight - one way or another.

Last I saw both UF and UK were underdogs to night. Hopefully the SEC can surprise some people tonight. My suspicion is, no matter what happens tonight, both teams (UF and UK) would benefit from these games being played later in the year. Luckily this isn't college football.

I feel like Michigan State always loses their big game early in the season, struggles for a bit, and then gels towards the middle of the season.

I agree with REM that given the Gator suspensions and injury recoveries, and Kentucky's needing to get the Frosh up to snuff, both SEC teams would be better off with this game played later.

Of course, as xeny notes, Michigan State does have a tendency to start slow and get better as the season moves along.

True - both SEC teams will learn a lot and this ain't football, where one loss pretty much kills your season.

It pains me to say it, but I think I am rooting for Michigan State to lose. In the Big Dance, I would be rooting for Kentucky to lose to Michigan State, but I think this would help the Gators if the Cats win...

Cal gave a BS comment, but it wasn't about forfeit...He said they stink now and have no chance of beating a good team. Izzo responded by saying UK should forfeit...

Believe it or not, this IS typical Cal BS. He's sandbagging like a pro leading up to this game. I'm not a big fan of it. If he wants to soften expectations, then just soften them. Be straightforward and not so over the top. It must be that he figures he'll just sound like every other coach (coach-speak) if he doesn't do something that'll get more clicks, etc.

I'm SURE he wants to win this game badly and I'm SURE he's telling his team they can win it. I just have a problem with how he spins his message to the media sometimes.

Did Vince Dooley give a seminar about how to do this? Was Cal his prize student?

My dad (working class background and his teen years were during the Great Depression) had an expression for this: Crying with a loaf of bread under each arm.

Hope this is a good game. We can use the distraction.

Not ready for prime time. I'm sure they'll be playing like the Showtime Lakers by the time they face us.

Love Cal complaining about it not being fair his guys have to face an experienced MSU team this early. Well John, whose fault is it that you don't have any experience?

Kentucky looks pretty bad so far. I'm sure they'll catch up soon. Then again Michigan St has a very good team this year.

It is never his fault. He reminds us every year that it isn't his fault the NBA allows one and done players.
