what happened to "the president is never really on vacation"

besides the fact that Bush had his house in Texas fully staffed and equipt and was basically working from home.

of course, every time he was out of washington he was "on vacation"

Obama goes to marthas vineyard but he is not really "on vacation"

c'mon man......if only Obama's administration was as transparent as you are

They all work when they are away, it's not like the president can truly take a day off. The question is the associated cost for the trips. AF1 costs over 100k an hour alone, whether someone is working while using it or not.

Its up to the public to hold them accountable, until they do nothing will change.

Africa was a state trip to meet with world leaders and discuss our relationship with African countries. These were never considered vacations for prior Presidents (for example, the higher number of days that Bush spent on state trips were not included in the vacation figure posted earlier). Why did that suddenly change when the occupant of the White House changed?

I don't recall him spending an unusual amount of time visiting foreign countries. But even if he did, I certainly don't recall him spending an unusual amount of that time on vacations.

108- it is not the number of days I have a problem with-it is the extravagance

Not if he would do his job. You know Leader of the free world, President of The United States! His A#1 job is to be our leader, too bad he's not a very good leader, excellent campaigner though!

It's Great to be a Florida Gator!

Apparently they will travel separately. Why scrimp on travel expenses? Money's easy to come by for the Royal Family.

He's not Truman....he's Blakejah. or as more appropriate--Sybil due to his juvenile usage of 45 different aliases in the last 60 days as he continues to get banned and return.

In some serious need of therapy. Even Truman himself was nowhere close to this level of psychotic behavior.

Bush visited 75 countries while President. Obama has visited 38. So now the question becomes: why don't you recall that? And why were the Bush trips not vacations but the Obama ones are? Was it the Safari that the Obama people talked about but didn't take (that of course the Bush family did take)? Or is this an issue of your outrage being very selective?

Interestingly, when you were flipping out about the Africa trip, the cost estimate numbers came from the prior trips taken by Presidents to Africa. And since Obama had never taken a full visit to Africa, on whose trips do you think those estimates were based?

Reading your posts re Obama and his vacations/junkets/business development trips/apology tours...whatever you wish to call them, I've just realized something...the GCTH Appropriations Committee has not sent you your set of Obama knee pads. Our apologies. A set is on the way.

It's not the amount of time he is spending, it's the cost! We have been through this before. Obama is spending way more than bush on his vacations. Now go find a marine to hold the umbrella for king Obama.

Democrats complained about Bush's vacations. Republicans complain about Obama's vacations.

I hardly call my stance "flipping out"..

I was very critical of W's spending while he was in office- your prez is making what W spent look mild
