The French Revolution was already a bastardization of the American Revolution from the jump, being largely an excuse for butchery, and that it inspired further decay by more ambitious butchers later... great. One of the major objections, within the strawman context of caring about Ho's inspirations or their legitimacy (still doesn't make saying anything conciliatory about the man a dignified thing for a US President to do), is that the claim of inspiration might somehow impute culpability to the founding of this country for those acts. It not not Jefferson's or Madison's or our history's fault that later Marxist/statist beasts would dubiously sing their praises in justification.

Jefferson was a big fan of the Jacobins.
