In the event that we lose a game or two in the next few weeks, it's going to be all right.

06.......lost 3 of last 5, including at Arkansas and at Bama, and home to Tennessee.

07.....lost 3 of last 5, including losing at Vandy, at LSU and at Tennessee.

Both seasons we won our last 9, however :)

I get what you are saying, but the SEC was a lot stronger back then.

I actually think we are stronger than some think.

Yes, we have our bad programs, but if LSU or Tennessee squeeze in, I think they can both surprise and do damage.

And I personally think Auburn is a good team, maybe more just a bad matchup for us.

Huge difference. The 04s lost those games because they already knew they were in no matter what. They rested up for the SEC and NCAA slate. This team isn't exactly as good as the 04s were. Not even close. We could play tough, physical games or we could play parameter. Whatever we saw we adapted. This team doesn't have that.

That '07 team had clinched the conference title and lost focus. I remember Jerry Palm saying that Florida was officially bored with the regular season.

If we had already clinched the conference title, how was the SEC stronger back then?

We still need 3 wins to clinch, or 2 if one of them is UK.

'06 team was young. The '07 team was just bored.

They never lost an elimination game as a group of starters, though.

    Yeah this makes no sense.

It's like some people refuse to believe we have a legitimately good team.

Just like some people refuse to celebrate our team's success until after we've won the tourney. Because we MIGHT lose another game at some point this season. Gotta keep perspective here guys. No happiness allowed yet.

16 game schedule vs. 18 game schedule!
Both UF teams got off to a 13-0 sec start. I would imagine that 14 (if UK has another loss) or 15 wins would clinch it this year.

We still do not know the final story until after the sec tourney ends - How many sec teams will make the tourney? two or five/six? Will Missouri, Tennessee, LSU make it? Or another surprising team (i.e, Georgia, Arkansas, Ole Miss, etc.) win the sec tourney?

It's possible that Florida 2014 has more depth to rely upon than the 2007 team. While the starting five of 2007 is one of the ncaas best, I think this team has enough depth to weather the end of the sec season. For instance, this year's team has two solid point guards to run this team and slightly more back-court help:

Hill, Wilbekin, D.Walker, Frazier vs. T.Green, L.Humphrey, Hodge

However, it is no contest that the 2007 team was significantly better in the frontcourt:

P.Young, Yeguete, DFS, Kurtz, Walker vs. Noah, Horford, Richard, Speights; Werner.

The Gators have ALWAYS, every year, since the Donovan Era got into gear, lost games at the end of the SEC slate, because, due to TV and the fact that the Gators are a top team, the end of the season makes better viewing when two contending teams are playing rather than a contender and an also ran.

A back loaded schedule causes the end of season losses.

This team is deeper than the 06 team, which really only had 3 quality big men (Moss was never much of a contributor and usually played little more than Chris Walker is). The 07 team, with Speights as the 4th big, was deeper in front, but in the backcourt, this team, as was noted is deeper, taller and more athletic. Corey Brewer was the only 3 on either the 06 or 07 teams and really, none of the guards had the ability to play the 3 well. Sometimes Noah would play that to give Brewer some rest. Prather is really the only 3 on this team, but both Frazier and D. Walker can play the 3 well. The only shrimp on this team is Hill, who is, despite not being able to hit the broad side of a barn door with a shotgun, already a better player than Hodge as a sophomore. Wilbekin and Frazier are both more versatile than Green and Humphrey were. And, of course, then there is Devon Walker who really is an excellent defender and contributes some now on offense also.

The idea that a team of basketball players is bored with basketball is perhaps one of the most questionable statements I have ever heard in my life. The 06 team finished 2nd in the East behind Tennessee. Perhaps the 07 team was unconcerned due to having a decent lead in the East.
