This Season
Given the weak nature of the schedule, we will not only have to go undefeated, but have some pretty respectable scores. In other words, no defeats and no close games!! I want to see some scores like last year against The Citidal and Kentucky. And for God's sake, can we please shut someone out this year?!?!?! Preferably UGA or UT!!! I've always had a soft spot in my heart for UT, but not this year with Kiffin. He's taking that team to Thugville!!

Behind the ACC? You've got to be kidding. Duke, Maryland, Virginia, FSU, NC State, Clemson, Miami . . . there isn't an excellent team in the entire ACC except maybe Va Tech every now and then. Good grief, on our way to the National Championship we lost to one SEC team and had a close game for 3 quarters against another (Alabama). The one ACC team we played was FSU. FSU was the second highest ranked team in the ACC at the end of the season and we trounced them 45-15 (which would easily have been 60-15 if we had any reason to score that many points).
The ACC is, always has been, and always will be a mediocre football conference at best, loaded with weak sisters and a bunch of schools that are too small, and don't take football seriously enough, to ever be better. There are no circumstances under which any objective person could possibly envision the ACC as a better football conference than the SEC - none.

In case you haven't heard, Miami joined the ACC.
And there is almost no way is the ACC is better than the SEC next year. The SEC has 5 top-20 caliber teams, plus 1 MNC favorite. The ACC has 2-3 top-20 caliber teams, and 1 possible MNC contender. The two simply don't compare right now.

The Charleston Southern, Troy, and FIU games are a joke for a program that has won 2 of the last 3 NC. Some of you are in for a shock at the end of the season if you think UF will win easy over FSU again. How many years have you watched this rivalry? Its due time for a dog fight and they have really loaded up that last two seasons. If E.J. Manuel wins the QB their going to be the toughest game on the schedule bar none. The one thing the gators can count on next season is that everybody is going to play their best against UF and Tebow, which is going to make a lot of those games tougher than they seem on paper.

If UF goes undefeated, who else has a realistic shot at going undefeated next year?
1) Winner of Big 12 South
2) Winner of USC / Ohio St.
3) Boise St.
4) Virginia Tech
5) Penn State
6) Any others ??
Any of the teams except Boise State could have a higher computer ranking than UF in that scenario. However, the difference in the computers rankings among the undefeated teams would not be great enough to offset the inevitable lead UF would have among the coaches and Harris poll voters.
Do not fret, the Gators are in control of their destiny!

It'll certainly be difficult to get to the championship game this season with a loss.

Given the quality of the Defense and Offense and Special teams the Gators are likely to put on the field next year, an undefeated season is a possibility, even in the SEC.
Several possible roadblocks are on the schedule, but defense wins championships, and the Gators, barring key injuries, are likely to field a monster defense this year. The Gators are so deep at every position on defense that it is enough to make opposing offensive coordinators cry.
Add to that that EVERY Special Teams starter is back, and it begins to look like a Nightmare for most opponents, even given the Quality of the SEC, and the probable improvement by FSU.

Loaded up? Fsu has zero speed and EJ Manuel has absolutely no one to throw too. Comes from years of recruiting gangsters with crappy grades at the reciever position.

Yes, I did hear that. I should have mentioned that we played Miami, another ACC team, and were accused of running up the score on them.

UF is always great. Dang, I can't believe I had to point that out with all these Gators around. LSU will be a little better than last year.

Ole Miss will challenge for the west, but the Bammers have the edge because of the defense they return. Defense wins the SEC.......the two best teams in the SEC both play in the east.
UGa will have one of the best offensive lines in the country. They return So.. Ben Jones at center, freshman all SEC selection. They return RJr. guard Chris Davis with 26 starts experience. Return Jr. Clint Boling OT All SEC selection with 26 games experience. Return So. Cordy Glenn G. All SEC selection with 11 games experience. Return RSo. Trinton Sturdivant OT RSo All American, All SEC with 13 games experience.
Georgia returns Jeff Owens and Geno Atkins at the defensive tackle....both are considered to be first round draft picks. Georgia returns all three linebackers including the SEC's leading tackler Rennie Curran. Georgia returns Reshad Jones and Bryan Evans at the safeties and Prince Miller at the wide corner. All together we lost 2 starters.
I don't know what ACC team you are affiliated with but I can promise you none of them would beat UGa. We had 24 scholarship players out with injury last year and still won 10 games chief....check it for yourself.

Well, until that happens let's not worry about it.

Kinda like last year when we destroyed every conference we played against in bowls.

I am with you until you started bragging about Bryan Evans and Prince Miller. You can keep both imo.
Curran is nasty good.
The key imo for UGA is DE. If Houston is what he is cracked up to be after a monster Spring, UGA have be very stout. If he isn't, it could be rough because UGA wasn't exactly a sack monster last year (for the understatement of the day).

Evans move to safety seems to suit him. As far as Miller, I expect him to have his hands full holding off Branden Smith late in the year.
He is very good outside. A very sure tackler that brings it every play.

A good push in the middle can only help the ends. Battle struggled with injury all last year and has since had surgery. He should be back to form. I think you will see Marcus Washington in nickel situations working the weakside end position. One thing for sure G, we can only get better there.

Well to me, it looks like a pretty easy schedule for the Gators this year... It'll be SWEET to see them in the BCS again this time around...

I think Coach Meyer would like very much to shut out both UT and UGa and do a RUTS on both of them.

Mr. RayGator, I am quite sure you know that the last time Florida shut out Georgia was 1984.
After suffering many a heartbreaking defeat to the Bulldogs with a conference championship at stake, Florida again entered the contest undefeated in the SEC.
The Gators dominated early, building a 17-0 lead by early in the 2nd half. But the Bulldogs seemed to come alive in the 3rd quarter, mounting a long drive that reminded uneasy Florida fans of many infamous chokes against the 'Dawgs in the past. However, Georgia's drive died in the shadow of the Florida goal line when they were stuffed on 4th down, checking the Bulldogs momentarily but pinning Florida back deep in their own territory.
On the second play following the change of possession, Florida quarterback Kerwin Bell dropped back into his own end zone and lofted a long pass to streaking receiver Ricky Nattiel, who went 96 yards for a touchdown. The Bulldog momentum was snuffed out and the Gators went on to a convincing 27-0 victory, eventually completing an undefeated conference schedule for the first time in school history.
I don't know if any of y'all are interested, but this is an excellent documentary on the series narrated by Pat Summeral. It has all kinds of appearances from former Gator and Dawg greats. Definately worth watching......specially you younger Saurians. Enjoy!
