Its not impossible that UF could go undefeated and still not be in NC game, especially if USC and Oklahoma/Texas goes undefeated. Dont forget that USC has to go to OSU which will really helps their SOS.

Technically possible in the BCS, but it is very, very unlikely that an undefeated, defending national champ gets excluded.

That schedule could do it.

You're assuming that some other teams have WAY tougher schedules and go undefeated on them. Nobody will have a significantly tougher schedule because the other conferences just aren't strong enough.
The Gator schedule is always top 10 in SOS, and was #1 and #2 in our last two championships. Our SEC schedule and SECCG will get us into the top 25 in SOS, and probably higher. If the Noles have a good year, that helps us, too. That'll be good enough.
But we have to win them all. We probably can't get in with a loss on this schedule, unless it is a freaky season like '07 when LSU got in with two losses.

Your argument has some good points. The SEC is usually the best confrence, but next year the SEC COULD be the 4th best confrence behind the Big 12, Pac 10, and ACC. UF will be great, LSU COULD be good, but they could be a disaster like last year. Ole Miss SHOULD be good but lets see if they can hold it together for 2 years in a row. UGA is gonna stink, Alabama could be getting sanctions and a possible Violation of Probation so that could hurt their standings. Pretty much every other team in the SEC is gonna be average to below average.

Well, the SEC could be 4th best as you say. Or it might be the best again.
The Big 12 was exposed in the bowl season. The Pac 10 only had one team in a New Years bowl (which tells you a lot about the value of their bowl record), and the ACC has a lot of balance, but no top 15 teams (at least not as of last season).
IMO, it is unlikely the SEC will be any worse than 2nd best, as it very rarely is any worse than that over the past couple of decades.
The lack of experienced QBs will hurt a number of SEC teams, but most teams will still have fast athletic defenses, strong line play, and athletes in skill positions. All conferences have teams in transition, but the SEC has more athletes to step up than any other conference, in most years.
I agree that Ole Miss s/b strong (along with LSU), and Bama will be down a bit, sanctions or not. They are in a "tweener year" like we were in '07.
I don't agree on UGA. I think they'll be better than last year, because of reported improvement in attitude and work ethic, along with a healthier, more mature OL (which wasn't bad for being so young and dinged up last season). Their schedule is pretty tough, though.
My guess is that UGA will be a 9 win team in the regular season, but one of the best 9 win teams in the country. ... and that is coming from someone who has hated the crotch sniffers for decades.

Every time I look at our schedule, I cringe at the OOC opponents.

Troy isnt that bad for a lower conference team. I'd obviously rather have someone like West Virginia, Cincy, Washington, UCLA, Virgina, NC State, Maryland, Kansas, Nebraska, Pitt, Kansas State etc come in but I doubt we will ever see that. I just accept the fact that we will always play cupcakes early. I would like to see USF be scheduled maybe on an every other year basis or something. But I guess of the 3 OOC teams Troy isnt't that bad of a team to have on the schedule. The other two are terrible but as long as we take care of business there should be no reason to worry about our SOS. Especially if the team we play in the SECCG is ranked in the top 15 at that time.

yes he really said that in his first public appearance as coach... the more i think about it maybe kiffin knows what he is doing... we were going to beat UT by 30 or 40 anyway so why doesnt he get people excited about the program? maybe he isnt as dumb as we thought

I agree this is our weekest schedule in recent history. What helps us is the fact we will likely start the season ranked number 1. This is no doubt our best chance to go undefeated. However, if we lose a game early the season is not over.

If a team like Utah goes undefeated this year, don't look to make it in with a one loss, we have to be perfect. The BCS will save it's own skin and put a Utah or a Boise in to appease the cour system and congress, count on it.

We will have a great team.
Too bad we will not play a difficult schedule. It could have had the opportunity to lay claim to be one of the greatest teams in history. The upside is that some of the best teams in history did not make it out of their schedule undefeated. So, winning a championship has more lasting power. Going undefeated is a goal that we need to reach- this is perhaps the best chance in a very long time and for a long time to come.
The last two games might be the toughest: Bama/LSU in Atlanta and then USC in California for all the marbles.
