It will be an interesting year. Since the schedule was set years in advance, it is unfortunate that it rolls out like it does.
That said, GO GATORS!

Did Kiffin really say that? I did not hear his 1st press conference...

Read it on a thread here after he was hired - saw another reference to it yesterday. I'll look for it ...

And I agree!
That's why I posted the SEC CG and the BCS CG in the opening post here with the 2009 schedule. And also posted those 2 games on The GATOR TV Guide on the Gator Aid Station info forum.
It's great to be a Florida Gator!

I agree that we have absoloutly NO ROOM for a loss with this weak schedule i mean Charleston Southern , Troy and FIU?? One loss would almost certainly eliminate us from National Championship contention. I Also agree that the toughest game on that schedule is in Baton Rouge against LSU. They will be MUCH improved from last year and Soph.QB Jefferson has a scary set of skills.

If the Champion of the SEC has 1 loss, they will be in the BCS Title Game.
The SEC has sent a 1 loss team to that game for the last 3 years, and, in each case, effectively dominated the opposition.
It will not occur that a 1 loss SEC Champion will not end up in the Championship game, unless two top teams like USC, Oklahoma, Texas, or one of the Weak Sister Big 10 teams - UGH!!!) go undefeated (which is possible). N

You say it can't happen and then immediately list an exception.
It can definitely happen, it is a very real possibility.

Does anyone know the last time we won a game against mSu in Starkville?? We got hammered on a Thursday night game in 1992, we got hammered again in 2000 (?) and then lost again in 2004 against a pitiful Bulldog team, a loss that ushered in a new era for Gator football. Lets roll out of there with a win this year.

The last time the Gators won in Starkville was 9/28/1985 UF 36 MS 22
Tebow will get that corrected !

Any word on what the Spring Practice schedule looks like? I would think it would kick off in a week or two.

Sat. April 18 Orange and Blue Spring Game 1:00 P.M.
--Should be a beautiful day in Florida and a chance to shower love on the defending national champs who have two great seniors that should be in the NFL but love UF so much they came back.
Sat. Sept. 5 Charleston Southern
--Typical preseason scrimmage.
Sat. Sept. 12 Troy
--Another game that should be ignored except for Foley writing the check.
Sat. Sept. 19 Tennessee
--I hope Kiffen can back up the checks his mouth has been writing. Ole Miss got out with a win maybe Tenn can too.
Sat. Sept. 26 at Kentucky (Lexington KY)
--KY's 2-3 year run of respectability might be over now the seniors and that great QB are gone. This is another layup.
Sat. Oct. 10 at LSU (Baton Rouge LA)
--Does LSU have a QB? Oh yeah, a FR last year named Jefferson who played well in the bowl game. Okay. This will be a tough game.
Sat. Oct. 17 Arkansas (Homecoming)
--Does Ark-Kansas have a QB? Please tell me the putrid Casey Dick is gone. Please tell me he is. Watching him is like watching a 6A high school FL QB play and that isn't meant to be a compliment.
Sat. Oct. 24 at Mississippi State (Starkville MS)
--Can Miss St. score more than 10 points against air? The Gators glide in for another layup oh that SEC is brutal!!!! Brutal I tell you!!!!
Sat. Oct. 31 Georgia (Jacksonville FL)
--I said last year in June UGA wouldn't handle being preseason #1 well. Hopefully this year they sneak around the chicken coup a little bit. No Stafford. No Moreno. This game looks tough on paper but it isn't. It's late October and UF has only broken a sweat once all season. Oh that brutal SEC schedule!!!!
Sat. Nov. 7 Vanderbilt
--Vandy hasn't beat UF since Woodrow Wildon was taking black and white pictures lit by puffs of phosopherus. Oh that brutal SEC schedule!!!! How do the Gators manage to get through that brutal SEC schedule!!!! How do they do it!!!!
Sat. Nov. 14 at South Carolina (Columbia SC)
--Tow words for you: watch out for the hitch pattern. Gawd, at least this turkey is on the road.
Sat. Nov. 21 Florida International
--I'm shocked this game isn't in September but I guess you ran out of preseason dates.
Sat. Nov. 28 Florida State (Senior Day)
--FSU needs to make this game competitive again. And FSU's players better not talk smack beforehand.
Sat. Dec. 5 SEC Championship Game (Atlanta GA) 4:00 P.M. CBS
--I agree, maybe Ole Miss can give the Gators a decent game or a rematch with LSU. Bama won't be here they loss a lot.

A few comments, Cecil.
Didn't Troy take FSU to the wire a couple of years ago?
Didn't Kentucky beat FSU just two years ago? True that they don't have the offensive talent they had then, but they do have considerably better talent on defense now, and they are well coached.
LSU's frosh QB (soph this year) was good enough to take GA Tech to the woodshed, in the bowl game.
Arkansas has Ryan Mallet - the projected started at Michigan before Rich Rod took over. Hard to tell how he'll do, but he's not chopped liver, and Petrino is known for his offensive prowess.
MSU usually plays tough defense. They should not be a challenge for us, but the state of Mississippi seems to have some kind of voodoo hex on us.
Finally, poo-poo our "brutal SEC schedule" all you like, but I doubt FSU breaks .500 in conference, if they played our SEC schedule.
LSU is a sure loss. UGA is a probable loss. FSU would have to go 4-2 against the rest to break even in conference. They could do it, but they'd have to work hard for it, in part because the team would face depth issues having to play an SEC schedule. FSU is not deep enough, IMO, to handle an SEC schedule, and they don't appear tough enough, either.
The FSU of the 90s could definitely handle this schedule, but this ain't the FSU of the 90s.
