The Fishing Fools Thread....
I know there are many Gators who love to fish as much as I do! Let's have a thread where we can share fishing stories, pictures, and helpful hints to all good Gators and friends!
We all love good "fishing tales," pun intended!
Where do you fish? What do you catch? Baits? Boats? Tricks? Maybe you could even "hook up" some friends to fish together!
Let's go fishing!
(Thanks Hoops, Rella, Skie, Bari and of course vanders and others! You guys are great! Go Gators! I love ya!)

Allright... its back!!!
Well, here is my report from last saturday....
Went out with two buddies hoping to find some kings for the smoker. The kings did not cooperate, so we hit a few deep wrecks. We ended the day with a snowy grouper, a bonito, short snapper... and some dolphin that saved the trip.
We kept a flat line out while bottom-fishing and it got hit. About an 8lb phin came to the boat and brought his buddies with him. Most were 12-15lbs. We hooked the biggest of the bunch... likely pushing 20lbs, but my buddy lost him. We still landed 3 nice ones... and had some dolphin dinner for the SEC Chmapionship game.
Crummy sea condition for the next few days... so I am stuck on land. But here are a couple pics from Saturday:

I guess I have to go fishing this Saturday now
Thanks PMC for remaking the best thread on GC!
Man has the weather sucked lately in north central florida, every weekend it is like small craft advisory. I am really chomping at the bit to catch up on some red fishing.

Thanks Hoops and Rella! Thanks for the welcome back Bari!
Hoops, I bet that really was some great tasting fish!
Husband has been out, but hasn't caught much. He might try to go fishing this weekend. If he can't get out in the boat, then he might go wading to catch some reds and trout.
I have some Christmas shopping to do. Bass Pro might be a good place to start.

Yep, always a good place to shop for us guys.
Glad to see you back in the pub Pam! Hope you had a great time in Atlanta.

Hi Chuck! I did have an amazing time in Atlanta! My seat was so high, the players looked about an inch high! The Gator win definitely made the trip even more exciting!
My husband and son fished in a father/son tourney on Sat, but finished in time to make it home to watch the game. The weather and the tide (not much water during the morning hours) so they didn't take the boat out. They put on their waders and caught a few trout.
They didn't stay for the end of the tourney. They wanted to make it home for the game and they are really glad they did!

What's the over/under on how long this thread takes to get back to 1,000?
Unfortunately, I haven't made it out since moving to Texas. Hopefully I can get out soon and have something to show for it.
Hoops - There are very few people that I'm jealous of. You, my friend, are one of them. I wish I could catch a tenth of the stuff that you reel in.
Tight Lines to all!

Wow .... can honestly say I've never seen anything like what Hoops reeled in. Seeing those pictures makes me want to get out on an ocean and try fishing there. lol
I've only ever fished in lakes, ponds, etc. And I generally fish for bass, bluegill, crappie and sometimes catfish. So while it's fun for me, not really anything y'all would be interested in seeing.

thanks!
And please post your pics!
More than anything, I love bass and freshwater fishing. Peacock bass are among my favorite fish of any I have ever caught... fresh or saltwater.
And finesse fishing for bass, crappie etc often takes more skill than a lot of big saltwater species. The dolphin in the above pic, for example, swim in schools and are voracious. When you hook one, they tend to follow/stay with the hooked fish. So from there, it is just a matter of pitching baits and reeling them in. They are tremendously strong and acrobatic, but no too smart or shy!
I am a freshwater angler first... always will be. So I would love to see some of those reports.

Awww, thanks Chuck and Hoops!! Y'all make me feel better about my lil' ole' fishing. lol
I spent Thanksgiving Day out on a public lake, mostly just to relax as it wasn't a good day for fishing, but still caught two big bluegill. Haven't been fishing again since then, though. Need to get back out there soon. Meanwhile, here are a few pics from two of my fishing trips...
This is the smallest bass I have ever caught -- and yes, it was caught on a hook. lol
And this is the second smallest bass I caught -- both the same day:
Finally, a large mouth bass I caught in early September -- my biggest catch to date, I believe:
That one I caught off the bank (I've never fished from a boat.) in a large lake using a black salty for bait on my South Bend Black Beauty 2 rod and reel.

I took my mom fishing recently... not a big fish, but cool colors and good for dinner!!!
My friend did some sort of border effect on the pic... kinda neat.

Beautiful bass AU! Wow! And that's a good one caught by Hoops' mom!
I love the pics everyone! :-)
Here are some pics from our other Fishing Fools thread. I put these together when it went into the Hall of Fame.
