The game was fairly close in the first half with the high scoring Demons scoring 32 and closing the deficit to four points (36-40) early in the second half. The Gators built the lead back to 10 points before going on a 16-0 run to put the game out of reach. It was the Gators defense that sparked the run as they repeatedly forced Northwestern State into turnovers, demoralizing the Demons, allowing them only 15 second half points. The Gators outrebounded Northwestern State 40-21, which contributed to the blowout.
