Any serious coffee drinkers in here?...and if so--your favorite blends, brands, etc
I am huge fan of serious coffee--drink probably 6 cups per day(down from what it used to be) and bounce around on blends, brands, etc depending on mood or tastes at the time.
Anyone else in here take their coffee seriously? What brands or blends are preferred, and what is the absolute best you have ever had--even if not on a regular basis?

1 cup a day, every day, but not a beanhead.. Right now, really loving the Green Mountain Dark Magic in the Keurig.

I definitely don't qualify as a serious coffee drinker, but I do really like the Gevalia K Cups. The Costco brand K Cups are also surprisingly good.

I used to be pretty into my coffee and would buy whole beans only, grind what I needed every morning and use a french press. Like Kona, Mocha Java and other stuff. But its been a while since I have done a lot of that. Just havent had the time or money to invest. I still drink 2-5 cups a day. Its just not anything special these days.

50% Duncan Donuts original, 50% Maxwell House. 4-6 cups per day. I used to drink ALL day till I dropped to sleep. All the others are just tooo harsh. Especially Starbucks. Ugh!

Jamaican Blue Mountain or Hawaiian Gold Kona....best flavored for home use. Also like to drink chicory coffee from time to time. Café du Monde is pretty good, but you have to be in a chicory mood for it. It has a bite to it...but something about it sneaks up on you. Comes across very strong and bitter at first, but the taste grows on you quickly.
An acquired taste...sort of like scotch!
And you are right about McDonald's coffee--when fresh, it is actually very, very good.

Agreed. McDonald's coffee used to taste like sewer water to me and then they ramped up the McCafe thing and changed the coffee. Of the chain quick coffee places (Starbucks, Dunkin, Einsteins, etc) in my area I enjoy McDonalds the best. I believe it won a few blind taste tests against the others as well. A solid cheap cup on the go.

Ravens Brew Coffee - from Alaska. Really cool place - check them out: www.RavensBrew.com
Blue Mountain is very good of course -but very expensive for every day
We also like Marley Coffee -- Bob Marley's family.
Or - if you want to try a lot of varieties - try Misto Box. http://www.mistobox.com/
We get 4 small bags each month - makes a 16 cup french press (2 mugs) which is perfect for us. You can sample and get a discount if you want to buy more of any particular brand.

I'm not one to spend loads on a single cup of coffee--just doesn't make sense. I'll splurge from time to time on some good stuff for home, but even then it isn't crazy expense like the supposedly, ultra high-end coffee....kopi luwak, or civet coffee from Indonesia. This stuff is found in the fecal droppings of the civet critter found in that part of the world, and is prized to the point of costing several hundred dollars per pound!
Interesting to read about--gross to think about. While it "may" be the elite coffee on the planet, it simply has no appeal to me anyway,(at any price) because of where it comes from, or the orifice it comes out of. Searching through the jungle to find critter poop loaded with light brown undigested coffee seeds which then is ground into the top notch blend of coffee--sorry, ain't my idea of waking up in the morning.

I was like this myself....
It got to a point that I added 45 min to my morning just to properly prepare my coffee.
I would grind, boil fresh water, french press. Finally decided a little extra sleep was more important.
this guy loves his coffee:
