Customers of Comcast are also victims of cable theft. I fired them after my internet+tv bill started approaching $200 a month and that was with a modest package over 4 years ago.
Signed with Dish, nice deal for under a $100, which is now closing in on $150 and I cut premium channels just about every month.
It's getting disgusting and with the Comcast/Verizon plans to merge some services, it will only get worse for every customer.

I've heavily debated switching, especially because I am so sick of Cox (which basically has a monopoly on cable here in Gainesville). Might make the switch next year around football season.

They own Las Vegas as well. I noticed that on my last trip out there. Nice racket they have.

Every single game is available online and they even have apps for cell phones and tablets for free. There is nothing to complain about. This isn't like years ago when you only got whichever game the one network showing the games decided to put on their network even though 4 games were going on.

To those considering a switch...I've used them all. DirecTV is my fave. Here's a little secret. Threaten to leave them (DirectTV)...while mentioning your a football fan...and *poof* NFL Sunday Ticket suddenly becomes free for an existing customer.

Yeah, I am going to have friends and family over so we can all huddle around a cell phone or a computer monitor. Nice!

Dish and DirecTV are wonderful. I love both. Dish sometimes goes to war with Fox Sports (that is why I now have DirecTV because two years ago in October I was aiming to miss some early game because of Rupert Murdock and Charlie the owner of dish having one of their battles so I switched). The big difference between Dish and DirecTV is that DirecTV shows ESPNU in HD and Dish does not.
Most cable companies have a "franchise" which is a monopoly. I am the mayor of a small town and our cable franchise is up next month. I called a bunch of other cable companies and no one wanted to offer a franchise bid. So I suppose it is the cable company that get in on the ground floor that gets to keep it. Every city gets a good chunck of change from cable companies.
Bengerman, the only deal is the locals. Make sure you get them and that they are in HD. Both Dish and DirecTV gives you this information but as Gainesville is a small market it is worth exploring. Also a small antenna will allow the locals feeds through the Dish and DirecTV receivers but the biggest problem is the schedules. The best part about Dish and DirecTV is the quality of the picture and the time shifting you get on the movie channels as you get the east and west feeds.

It really depends on where you live. I can see where the Florida residents get the short end, because the game would be shown there due to regionality.
For people like me in Pennsylvania, for example, its better because the old system would require me going to a bar or relying on in game cut aways while the Big 10 or Big East teams were being shown on our CBS affiliate.

What aggravates me about this Bert is that I pay the extra $9/month for access to all of those Fox Sports channels so I can watch some of our games. Most of the time, these channels (Sun Sports, Fox Sports FL)are blacked out here in PA. Even when I want to watch a NESN game (Bruins, Celtics & Red Sox), they are usually blacked out as well. You wonder sometimes what the hell you are paying for.
Thankfully, HRTV is never blacked out and my wife and I do enjoy watching horse racing, so I guess its justified.

Not true, you can only watch CBS games on phone or tablet unless you are paying for a service that provides it at your tier. On the computer you can watch any.

Am I the only one who gets a message that says "This game is broadcast on truTV, which is not part of your paid TV provider subscription"?
I can't watch any of the tru TV games on the cbs website. I don't know how the f it know what I pay for or don't pay for - I've never put any personal info into that site. I assume it's blocking out truTV in Gainesville.

Comcast (which used to be Adelphia around here until they all went to jail) has everything in this market.
Verto was its predecessor and they were absorbed or bought out by Adelphia. Some of our long deceased council members got into some hot water because of the free HBO they received for years after approving their bid.
FYI, my wife is running for Mayor (but council has all legislative power, Mayor is a tiebreaking vote in the unlikely event of a deadlock). Any advice for her?

You are right Tommy. Only folks who live outside the region where their favorite school is, realize how the games feeds are and how bad it can get.
This is just bragging; however, I live in a great sports area even for the old CBS feeds. I get CBS out of Louisville, Nashville and Bowling Green. Often the games that I want to watch vary between those three stations. This area covers games from the B1G, SEC, Ohio Valley, Big East and Sun Belt. On football Saturdays I often have three TV's going so I can keep up. Television stations fight for the rights to the SEC or Big East Network feeds so I am basically assured of seeing them.

Well, I've never even heard of Tru tv much less watched it. I figured I'd have to watch this game on the internet. But nooooo, my cable company carries it, right down at the bottom of the dial with the other 40 channels I never watch.
