Time for a Taunting Rule?
Maybe the NCAA passes a "Marshall Henderson rule" to dissuade taunting. T them up for those antics.

The rule is already in place--just needs to be enforced.

Let the kids have fun. This is what I can't stand about football sometimes also you celebrate and get in trouble i don't mind it at all. Are all the sports teams in America so full of babies they can't take a little heat? Eventually these games will be emotionless.

When it comes to big games or tournaments officials are reluctant to call technicals. Coaches and players have way more rope in the playoffs or big games so that is why you see a Marshall Henderson showing up Joe Lindsay on the court and Lindsay swallowing his whistle. In a regular season game, he would have gotten a T. If he sticks around next year...the first time he shows up an official or does his taunting he will definitely get whacked.

I remember Horford getting hit with a T for flexing after a dunk.

If a Florida player does the chomp after a big play, do you want to see a T called on that? You can't have officials determining that the same gesture is allowed for one team and not the other.

I have no problem with what Henderson did. I have a problem that our players dont respond.

Just my opinion, but I hate the idea of taunting rules being spelled out in a rule book. Behavior on the court should be managed by the coach and that school's administration. If for some reason they can't manage it; then all you have to do is not react to their antics.

If you mean by punching Henderson in the face, then I agree. And both teams should then get two free throws.

i have no issue with henderson... or any player.... firing up his own crowd.
but he did things that i think he should have received a technical foul for. the most agregious was during the missouri game. i am not sure if it was shown on televsion, but right after mizzou called timeout he ran through their huddle and bench shaking his jeresy and then did the same in front of the tigers fan section. i was shocked he did not get a technical.

Henderson is an ass of epic proportions, and I've been to a Walmart in Alabama so my frame of reference for comparative posterior analysis is nothing to scoff at.

I agree with that. If a player taunts the other team to that degree, penalize him at the end of the game by not letting him go to his own team's locker room. Make him exit with the fans.

Yeah, there's a big difference between it being your own fans and opposing fans, I agree.

yes, playing sports is supposed to be about sportsmanship. If they want to have fun and are being a prick about it, send the other team to the line.

which is hard to do when they aren't enforcing their own rules.

But that isn't a taunt
A taunt would be doing the opposing teams hand gesture, etc

I sure don't like the concept that a team "owns" a hand gesture and there is special consideration given to them that only they can do it without penalty. If the Gators can chomp to fire up themselves or their fans, so can the other team. Turnabout is fair play...it's just not fun being on the other end of it when the other guy's doing it.

Players have to endure taunting from opposing fans so unless it is really egregious a bit of reciprocating is not out of line in my opinion.

I looked, and I don't think so. At least not for "taunting in our general direction."
Taunting directly towards an opposing player, or the opposing bench, yes. But A$$hat didn't do that.
What he did to the Auburn crowd earlier in the year was definitely a Tech, however, unless the game was over.

I've seen some bad stuff not called and called. We had a tech called on us for dunking in practice last year. Udonis was beaned by a ball thrown from the stands during pregame. It goes on and on.
Henderson's behavior crosses the line, imo. Since Ole Miss is not a sacred cow, I can imagine some off season conversations taking place about his behavior and if he returns next year, you can bet that he's dealt with.
