Really?
EJ Manuel's NFL stock is rising through the post-season games, workouts, etc.

Setting aside the hated rival stuff, I just don't see it. He strikes me as a nice kid, he is obviously physically big and gifted, but has he ever shown the ability to lead and perform under duress? I don't think so. He's not going to be a major bust or embarrassment, but he is shaping up as an attractive mistake for a QB-hungry team.
What say you?

I would think that in practices with no pressure at all he looks really good. But, as soon as he takes a hit or starts getting some pressure he either throws over his target or well in front of them. If I was a NFL coach, I wouldn't take him.

He has the size and arm strength NFL teams love. They all think they can coach em up...

you never know
he certainly showed nothing at FSU to indicate he'd be a great QB. Even Ponder showed 10x what Manuel did.
Like you said, seems nice, humble, etc. He has the tools, we'll see if he can make it click. Lord knows being at FSU puts you at an immediate disadvantage.

I'm sure that some of that has to be because of Ponder.

JaMarcus Russell clone. Fall in love with the body rather than the head.

Can't take a hit, cracks under pressure, throws the ball up for grabs, never been a winner. But who cares? He has a strong arm.

Jesus.... He sucks under pressure just watch our game. I see this is written in Tampa Bay though, I know it probably won't happen, but if they drafted Manuel I would disown them forever. We already have a QB who is slightly stupid, and sucks under pressure.

I'd expect EJ to look good in the Combine, pro days, and other controlled workout situations. He's big, strong, has a good arm, runs well, and generally looks great - until he's under pressure. Then he folds. But some team will ignore his history, fall in love with his physical attributes, and take him too high.

And this is easy to see why only 5-6 teams are legitimate Super Bowl contenders. The film doesn’t lie. EJ feasted on ACC competition his whole career. Yeah he looks like Tarzan but the eye test says he plays like Jane.

So long as he doesn't face NC State or UF he should be OK in the NFL!!!!!!!!

Nah...apples and oranges. EJ had a much better coach at F$U than Russell had at LSU.

I don't see this at all. Manuel has never seemed like a headcase; you could tell Russell had issues back at LSU.

Manuel is not an NFL QB.

Believe what is said in advance of the NFL draft as much as what is said by politicians before elections. I bet he will get a 3rd or 4th round flier by a team but nothing else.

If you are describing a girl you just met at the local bar, that is exactly what you are looking for but a football player, not so much .

4th is about where he should go, 3rd is a reach, but I bet some team rolls the dice and takes him in the 2nd. I can see him being a decent backup in the NFL but I sure don't see him as a starter.

I don't think Jamarcus Russell is the best analogy. He fell apart as much because of what money and fame did to him as his on the field woes. Manuel has, from what I can see, a pretty solid handle on life. I don't expect him to flame out and weigh 300lbs+.
What I don't see in him is the sharp read/react like RGIII, Russell Wilson or Luck. Can he be coached to competence at that level? Maybe. Does he merit a 1st or 2nd round reach? No. I agree with those saying 4th or so.
But there are so few promising QB options in the draft and so many teams anxious to get someone dynamic that he may well go high.
