By coincidence, I spent about an hour and a half up North Myrtle Street in Jax the other day. You're right, it's an entirely different world up there from anything I've ever known. But those aren't all African-Americans, either.

Ironically, it could very well turn out to their very detriment.

What's funny is that they have identified the symptoms but neither the disease nor the cure.
Their idea of how to fix it is comprehensive immigration reform and get out the vote efforts. They lost Colorado by over 5%. Suddenly trying to turn out more people and trying to get the Hispanic vote, who love Obamacare by the way, is not going to get you the 5% needed to turn Colorado or even the the smaller % needed in Ohio, Florida, or Virginia.

Most won't love Obamacare for very long. It's bite hasn't been felt yet. Under Obamacare, my cancer med only costs $250 per pill.

Don't look now but the scary old white men still control the House of Representatives and a majority of the governorships and state legislatures. So...

So...even though old white guys will continue to control the levers of power for some time...the demographic make up of society is changing and it is having a much more pronounced negative effect on the GOP.
Not saying you, mastergator, but one must be willfully blind or just unable to deal with reality if he or she can't see the problem. America is browning, pubs are not.

I used to participate in meals on wheels in Jax and what I saw there made me ill and messed with my head. Something has to be done to change the family (responsible father) culture among the poor. The left has attracted the minority vote, now it's time to suggest solutions other than blaming and demonizing the right.

Exactly. But the problem is they don't have any solutions. There's a good segment of the Hispanic population that is open to discovering this reality and changing their allegiance, especially when shown the light by up and coming leaders they can identify with like Marco Rubio, Susana Martinez and young George P.

The left will continue to own the poor vote so long as the Republicans continue to believe in social Darwinism.

It's too funny that the right thinks the messengers and not the message is to blame.

The left has a lot of solutions. Abortion, food stamps (which if married you probably want
receive), ditto for welfare, free phones, daycare for your kids, and probably more.

shab- I think it is the message and that the pubs are not conservative enough-as long as they keep nominating guys who are center left they are not going to bring out the vote

I'd blame both, problem is there is no message.

Bill, there is no evidence, none, that this country as a whole is dying to elect rigid, hardcore conservatives on a national scale.
What kills pubs in these elections is not their moderate positions: it's reconciling the hard dive to the right they have to take to get the nominations with what they try to present in general elections.
In a Youtube world, it's catering to the tea partiers that is killing the GOP, nothing else.

I disagree with you
I think the issue the pubs have is they do not embrace who they are and their conservatism-all you have to do is look at this last election and who did not vote-

This thread is funny being that the Democratic Party is going to putting all their hopes on a 70 year old woman for 2016.

You're right, the Republicans need to nominate Todd Akin for President in 2016.
I'm sure Hillary will even give him a contribution and tell him he should run, follow your dream, Todd, follow your dream.

I hope the Dems are smarter than this. Hillary will be too old, too much baggage, to match up well against the minority hottie the Pubs will probably run.
