What's good enough?
Now that we've moved on to the NCAA Tournament, how far does your team have to go in order to feel satisfied with the season. Obviously, we'd like to win it all or go pretty far, but when it's all said and done, how far do they have to go in order to feel like it's a good season.
I tend to think the Sweet Sixteen is a good season. You get out of the first weekend and your fans get one more week to cheer. The Elite Eight is better, of course, and the Final Four usually involves some degree of luck. So to me, getting through the first weekend is expected -- anything else is gravy.

I still maintain that anything less than a FF appearance with this group is a failure. They have gotten to the elite 8 the last two years. All their problems IMO, are between the ears

Depending on matchups, we're good enough to get to the elite 8. After that, it will depend on one of those 6-8 teams that are better than us getting upset.

This team has the talent for a Final Four run, but mentally it just isn't there. If they get caught in another Butler/Louisville situation they're going home.

Yea this year should be final four, a sweet 16 appearance which is usually good for most teams, would be a failure for this team.

Lack of depth inside and inconsistent low post play is a definite weakness of this team.
We are not as good as some think we are. Just not a complete team. If we get some breaks and our guards shoot really well, we can beat anyone. However, that does not make you a National Champion.

Final Four or bust. Isn't that what our own players said earlier in the year?

Now that we choked away the SEC title, it would take atleast an Elite 8 run to redeem it.

Louisville was a better team last year....and this year. We shouldn't have to face them until the Elite 8 game. I hope they are in a different regional though. What they did to Syracuse last night was obscene. They are better than us at every spot on the court.

This game meant nothing to Florida except for getting another bauble to put in the trophy case in G'ville. Win or lose, we're locked into a 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Ole Miss had to get the win to make the dance.
From a national title perspective, this was kind of a meaningless game for the Gators. Sure, winning it is better than losing it, but in the big picture, it matters very little.

This basketball season actually reminded me our 2012 football season.
I didn't expect us to be this good ahead of the incoming talent we landed.
We found a new quaterback in Scottie and he took us further than we thought.
In the end, we had a better-than-expected record...but could not maintain at a championship level.

Good enough is if we run into a better or equal team that just outplays us.
Not good enough is losing to an inferior team because we play sloppy and don't execute or just give the game away due to stupid mistakes.

Pre-season was elite 8. As the season moved on, I said FINAL FOUR baby!!! But in the last month, now i'm back to elite 8 (or even sweet 16). This team has PLENTY of talent to at least make a run at the final 4, it's all about how it responds when challenged.
I feel like the first time this team gets punched in the mouth, it's over (until proven otherwise, how can any observer of this Florida basketball team think otherwise?). So hopefully we click on all cylinders in the 1st two rounds. Then in the round or 16 or 8, this team gets a chance to FINALLY get it over the hump in a close game. Either it does, or it doesn't. I no longer feel like this team is capable of going all the way, because once you go far enough pretty much EVERY game will be a battle.
It would be devastating if this team got bounced early. However sweet 16 or elite 8 would pretty much live up to what most observers would probably expect from this team all year. Certainly I hope we don't have any 'early' adversity at all. It would be quite a script if we got to the elite 8, then faced a battle there, and FINALLY came through with a last second shot to get to the final 4. If we got there (elite 8) and lost, then the there would be some disappointment, but also alot of positives.

Pretty much this. Doesnt matter what round. If we get upset by a team being crazy from 3, and we play well so be it

This is BS at its finest. Did you see the look on our players faces after the game? I think its hard for some gator fans to realize that our team played as hard as they could and still came up short. Our team just to this point doesnt have that ability yet to close out games, its as simple as that.

This team will get beat by a mid-major in the second game. They will use the same plan Kennedy just used because our big guys are terrible in the paint. Team Zombie. No emotion and no fire.

Completely disagree. Since we aren't winning the national title, the sec title was our shot to win something. I personally really wanted that trophy in the case.
We aren't good enough in any sport to turn our noses up at sec titles. That is our goal every year, and if a national title becomes a possibility then great, but the sec is the main (not best) prize.
I can buy that the sugar bowl was meaningless, but not an sec title game.

Billy knows what a complete team is and we don't have it. This is not the 04s II edition. That team could hit the clutch 3, steal at anytime, and never get rattled. They had 3 inside men who could really muscle their way to the basket. We don't have that at all now. PY is too timid to have a presence under the basket and neither does Murphy. Everybody else are just PG versions. The other thing is the 04s could hit their FTs, even Noah. Horford was a better FT shooter than this whole team is right now.
