One Bad Thing for Us
One bad thing for us in how the SEC Tounament has rolled out is the lack of quality teams left to bolster our resume. The one thing we have been missing is a win away from homeover a tournament quality team. The best we have so far is Middle Tennessee State, and they are firmly on the bubble.
With Missouri and Kentucky out, our two best chances to pick up that kind of win are now gone.
Still, running the table will still be impressive, and might land is a 2-seed if other teams lose.

Beating teams that beat teams helps too, especially when there have been so many games played. We're a 3 either way, 2 wins and we're a 2.

Id be surprised if we got a 2 seed even if won out, just not enough quality wins unfortunately due to the lack of quality in our conference. Would have been nice if that Georgetown game had played out, and we hadnt lost just one of those games down the stretch.

I agree. I think people are too optimistic. We just aren't displacing any of the teams ahead of us. Maybe if Miami had lost. But we are a solid 3 win or lose. That's ok though

I think you are all being too pessimistic. Granted that they are not the be all and end all but Pomeroy has us ranked #1 and ESPN's BPI has us ranked #3 as does Sagarin. There are only six teams with less losses than we have and that includes Gonzaga and New Mexico. I think the Committee looks at RPI more than the meaningless rankings and they do take into consideration injuries at critical times and games. My guess is we win out and we are an easy 1 seed. Win one more game and a two at worst. This glass is way more than half full.

Possibly a weaker field, but an Ole Miss win today may get them in and push out UK.

Based on objective criteria KY should be in. However the committee make consider who they are minus Noel. Much as I would prefer to see them in the NIT, I think they will be in.

Its not being pessimistic at all. Theres not a chance for us to get a 1 seed with the games left and theres no chance at a 2 seed if we dont win the SEC tournament.
We frankly dont deserve a #1 seed losing SEC games down the stretch to inferior teams who wont even make the tournament (Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky). We dont possess 1 quality road win as we choked at Kentucky, Kansas State, and Arizona.
With the injuries weve had, inability to win close games on the road, and the subpar quality in our conference, a #3 seed is still solid.

I would think two strong wins (i.e. into double figures) today and tomorrow might tend to offset some of the close road losses when we had injuries. It was pretty well accepted that Ky had to be evaluated post-injury (Noel). Shouldn't our injuries also enter into the equation in the opposite direction?

I feel that winning out this weekend . Coupled with a still strong RPI will land us a #2.

If I read stuff correctly, yesterday, 3 teams that might well have been ahead of the Gators lost in their conference tournaments.
Right now, with 2 Tournament victories, a 3 appears relatively solid, unless the next opponent blows the Gators out, which doesn't appear likely.
Anything can happen, of course, but given the Gator's RPI and Metric ratings, I think a 3 is solid and a 2 is not out of the question.

We're at #5 in RPI with a 10-2 OOC record that is the seventh most difficult & is at #4 in the RPI. The return of injured players will factor in. Win tomorrow & we're definitely a #2, lose & we might still make it.

Bobby Knight just said we can possibly get a number 1 seed and he thinks we will be one of the top 5 teams in the tourney.
There are no dominant teams this year. We have a shot at a 1 or definitely a 2, if we take care of business.

If tomorrow goes well, I think we're a solid two seed.
I know everyone looks at the road record, but you have to also look at the quality of teams we played non conference. We just didn't play any dogs and we have no bad losses whatsoever, even in conference.
Look at Wisconsin, Marquette and even the teams we lost to (Arizona and KSU) have done really well down the stretch.

I agree with you 100% however this logic is somewhat flawed in my opinion.....The flaw being I can't think of 4 other teams with a deceint resume that acted like they deserved a #1 seed down the stretch either.
