Your thoughts on a couple of restaurants
Some of you may know that I own a Firehouse Subs Restaurant. I am thinking about diversifying a bit and wondered what y'all think of the following:
Moe's Southwest Grill
Flipper's Pizza

Mo's or Moe's Southwest grill?
If it is Moe's I like it, the food always seems to be pretty good and consistent from location to location. If it's Mo's I've never been there or heard of it.
I've never been to Flipper's but pizza seems like a tough market to jump into in the restaurant business. There are so many chains and then on top of that there are always quite a few mom and pop pizza shacks around.
Either way you seem pretty successful running your current business, so assuming you can manage both locations, I'm sure you will do fine.

I love Fire House. Jason's deli would do well in G-ville. But Cheddars would be a big hit for you and G-ville. I could help u figure this out too.

Skyline Chili! Nothing like it in Florida. Quick eats and very good. They are huge in Cincinnati and there is one in Ft Lauderdale when I was growing up and it was always busy.

I like Moe's, but I think they take a backst to Chipotle. Here in Ce Fl they also trail Tijuana Flats.
Sounds like you may want to avoid the fryer, but Zaxby's is the place that would do well, not many south of Ocala.

I eat at Flippers once a week on I Drive in Orlando. Good pizza, flat breads and calzones (Flips) and great lunch specials. Small venue with some outdoor seating, always crowded for lunch and the delivery guy is non stop in and out.

I love Moe's, but Husband is not a fan. It has been a while since we have been there. I loved Moe Mondays.

I'm a native of the nati and love skyline. Most outsiders I bring there don't like it! It's the cinnamon.
If it were me, I would do chic-fil-a, chipotle, or Pei Wei.

I think only a few people will know what I am talking about but there needs to be more Char-Hut in the world. And Gainesville would be a great place to start.

of late 5 guys is on a downward trend nationally-hard to justify the cost for what is basically a Wendy's hamburger(fresh made patty cooked on a flat grill)- yes they have great fries if you like greasy-I think they have shot their wad
there are 2 Zaxby's in Lakeland and 1 under construction in Winter Haven-I thought they were okay but they did not overly excite me-plus they are a free standing building and total cost to open one is about 1.3 mil- I could build 3 or 4 Moe's for that money
I am also looking at possibly bringing a new pizza chain to Central Florida
or maybe I just sit tight

LOL at this guy's comments!
My Biggest Complaint About Moe’s Southwest Grill
"I can eat a burrito with the best of them. And while I certainly don’t think Moe’s Southwest Grill has the best (or even authentic) burritos, I really do like them.
My biggest complaint about Moe’s is that the employees are (clearly) forced to shout, “Welcome to Moe’s,” every time a customer walks in the door. It’s annoying, dysfunctional, and ill-conceived by Moe’s management. And ultimately, it encourages drug use among the employees. I know that if I had to scream that thousands of times a day, I would be hitting the wacky weed at work."

Not a fan of Moe's or Chipotle, but do really like Tijuana Flats.
Never had Flipper's Pizza, but I am a pizza snob.

Bill, read this article. It might help with your decision as this article compares Moe's to Chipotle. It was written 6 months ago.

can't comment on either Moes SWG or Flippers but agree the Pizza trade looks like it would be tough to survive in right now-
could you franchise Jack's BBQ?
