Any university can only have so many assistant coaches on the field. If any of these quality control people are caught coaching, I' pretty sure that would be a no no per the ncaa and could lead to trouble. If Alabama is so set on winning at all costs, they might find out it wasn't worth it in the end.....because that could be were they get it.

Why on earth would Joker be our top choice for OC, heck for that matter why would anyone offer the genius behind the 105th best offense in college football a Head Coaching job- what did the first 100 or so OCs turn down the job?

$290K is plenty for a WR's coach.

It's amazing how much assistant coaches salaries have escalated in the last 5 years. When Jeff Bowden was the OC at FSU (2006) his salary was $141,000/year.
good to know he got/is getting the full buyout, most of those involve a gainful employment clause if they get another job. All the more reason he's not worried about pay.

"New, gainful employment doesn't eliminate or change his final buyout total in any way, according to his contract with the university, which runs through Dec. 31, 2014."

We had better start "developing" our coaching staff the way Bama does or we will NEVER equal or overcome them.

Saban knows exactly what he is doing. He's setting the bar on coaches salaries knowing that only a few elite teams can keep up. He's ensuring he gets the best assistant coaches money can buy and further distancing Alabama from the rest of the field.
He's stacking all the cards in Alabama's favor. As long as Bama boosters are willing to shell out the dough, he's willing to spend it.

Agree. I scratched my head multiple times when fans kept suggesting Pease was the top choice for "fill in the blank school". He needs to earn his keep this year and show significant improvement. Hell, I'll take top 50!!

I've always thought of ole jimbo as our ace in the hole. When the semi's finally boot him I'll be donnan/goff-sad.

I have not seen any indication that we have any quality control people.

Can someone explain what all these guys are doing at Bama if they are not coaching the kids? I mean how many people does it take to brake down film?

Maybe these guys are actually all presenting ideas on how to defend and score on other teams. I guess it could be viewed as having 8 defensive coordinators and 8 offensive coordinators. Maybe some guys jobs are to read lips, study hand signals and audibles of other teams.
