ABC reporter asks a good question but Carney doesn't like it!
This guy's days at the WH have to be numered after asking an obvious non pre-screened question.

Carney didn't want to answer how much it is going to cost for the weekly golf outing in Illinois this time...shocked face
Quote:
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney on Wednesday refused to entertain a question from ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl regarding the cost of one of President Barack Obama’s common golf outings.
Several reporters were questioning Carney over the Obama administration’s decision to cancel White House tours in order to avoid Secret Service furloughs and cutbacks due to sequestration cuts.
“The Secret Service told us that the tours cost $74,000 a week. How much is it going to cost for the President to travel later this week to Illinois?” Karl asked
|
the press corp should keep repeating the question until it gets answered and not ask anything else...sooner or later they have to grow a pair and start doing their job of getting answeres to questions the politicians do not want to answer.

Seems like it's worth answering better.
"We had to cut X because it costs a lot of money"
"Then how much does Y cost?"
"Doesn't matter, he's the president"

Should come up daily. It is the "what does God need with a starship?" logic bomb with which to blow up every Carney press briefing.
Wonder if Obama feels line Pope Francis is showing him up by driving himself around and handling his own luggage.

Not sure anyone would want to defend this, it's deplorable.

maybe just maybe
there will be enough democrats of true conviction and principle to realize what Obama is and will result in a fragmentation of the party.
kind of like what happened to the republicans with the tea party and the solidification of the libertarian groups.
I'm not holding my breathe though.......don't have enough hope that democrats will overcome their omniscience.

Yes, he should answer. Totally legitimate question. The fact that no one cared about this with other presidents may not seem fair to Carney (and Obama), but so what. I am glad people care about this sort of waste, even if it takes wild hypocrisy and unnatural dislike for Obama to get there.

the difference is that Obama plays trivial politics and is wildly hypocritical. So all at this point is fair game
as it was under the constant and incessant criticism of Bush.....rightly or wrongly. Our president is not above criticism
especially when you consider that Obama ran in 2008 on appealing to the highest of ideals. He SHOULD be held to the standard on which he preyed upon.

Sad to see people here condemn Obama and then truly believe Republicans are so virtuous that they are above this. Elitist politicians get to play by different rules and that's both parties at all levels of government.
I agree the issue is disgusting but it has nothing to do with party lines.
I mean we have some seemingly really intelligent educated posters who subscribe to a 3rd grade mentality on some things here

pubs are no more virtuous than dems when it comes to DC
I thought it was a legit question and also thought it was poorly answered
it is kind of like when one of your kids would as why and you would say because I said so

Most on the right do not believe that Pubs are all virtuous. It is not about personalities but rather about policies. We just had a discussion at breakfast about liberalism and the consequences. Several items:
1. The destruction of the black family structure as a result of the war on poverty.
2. Our public educational system...again run by liberals. (our kids went to private schools but it was worth it)
3. Immigration policies allowing millions to enter the country illegally and the financial pressure it puts on local schools, health care, penal system. Try putting the 12 M here now on Social Security and crunch the #s on what that does to that program.
The conclusion. Liberalism (while well intentioned) is like a cancer, destroying good cells and ultimately the ability to reason. Liberals don't seem to be able to add columns of #s.

It has nothing to do with party lines, it just so happens that these events are happening on Obama's watch. The question was legit and deserves a better answer.

to point #1.....notice how these issues are now becoming a problem across race line. Rates of unmarried white mothers has been SKYROCKETING over the past 10-20 years.
