Are we hosting Kansas next year?
Just received this email:
The 2013-2014 schedule offers two additional home games and your chance to watch the Gators battle Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee, FSU and a historic powerhouse soon to be revealed as part of the SEC-Big XII Challenge!
The ONLY historic powerhouse in the Big 12 is Kansas right?

If it is Kansas, they would mention them in the email in order to entice you buy tickets. It could be Texas, Oklahoma St, Oklahoma or Iowa St. I don't think they know yet. They just know that a Big XII team will be coming to the O'Dome.

Unless they aren't allowed to mention it yet since no one else has released theirs?

OK State has two NCAA championships and was Coached by Iba. That is pretty historical.

Who would Kansas be paired up with if it wasn't us?
Kentucky is already playing Baylor at Jerry World. And they have Louisville and North Carolina already too. Can't imagine they are also playing Kansas.
Kansas-Arkansas I guess. I was so amped for KU.

Don't they usually match up the teams based on conference records? That is what they do for the ACC-Big 10 Challenge.

Kansas - Mizzou is the one that makes the most sense.
I would guess UF vs Texas.

Yeah, I thought about Oklahoma A & M too. I agree UMo v. KU makes a lot of sense, but maybe Self is refusing it. KU has been pretty petulant about UMo joining the SEC.
Certainly there are some natural matchups:
aTm v. UTx
KU v. UMo
Vandy v. Baylor the two private schools in the conferences
after that it is pretty much matching comparable teams

I'm really concerned about our guard play in that game.
I'm really concerned about our freshman in that game.
I'm really concerned about integrating our transfers in that game.
Blah, blah, blah.
Go Gators!!!

I don't think Kansas and Missouri will happen, I think Kansas has been pretty vocal about that.

Kansas has behaved like a bunch of p?&&ies when it comes to playing Missouri. My guess is that they are referring to Kansas, but can't announce it yet officially.

I thought for this challenge to happen, part of it was Texas couldn't play A&M, and KU couldn't play Mizzou?
Has to be KU with the way they described it.

It would be incredibly misleading to put that in the email and then have us play Okie State. Historic, yes. Powerhouse, far from it.

It's just the way they said it. I don't think you would describe OU as a "historic powerhouse" .I would be fine with that though. Bring Lon back to town.

You can't possibly describe OU as a historic powerhouse in basketball.
They have 0 national titles. From 1950 to now, they have 2 Final Fours.
If the email said "facing a well known Big 12 program" it'd be different.
Historic powerhouse are big words to use.
