Nurse sharks aren't THAT bad, they'll gum ya up pretty bad though! I was looking under ledges for Lobster in Ft Lauderdale once and when I looked under I came face to face with a six foot nurse shark. Eye to eye...Literally 8-10 inches away. I just slowly backed away and left- streaming a poopie substance from me buttocks. I was a shark, up close and personal, the nurse part didn't register till later. I left on good terms. I was not compelled to stab it!

You would be suprised how long they will live out of water. We used to shark fish back in the late 60s & early 70s before catch and release became the norm. We would catch them, shoot them with a shotgun then tow the big ones to the dock and cut the jaws out for mounting. I saw a few that were shot with a 12 gauge slug in the gills and towed by the tail for several miles that were still kicking after an hour on the dock.
