Should White House let Donald Trump pay for axed tours?
The "Donald" dreams up another not-too-thoughtout gem and the folks at Fox & Friends follow along like the lemmings they are...
On a more serious note, screw funding capitol tours...How bout funding something meaningful like school lunches if you're going to pick up the tab for the federal gov't?
http://news.yahoo.com/white-house-le...170454393.html
Should White House let Donald Trump pay for axed tours?
The sequester, Mr. Earnest pointed out, mandates across-the-board cuts that administrators have little flexibility in carrying out. With a political jab, he noted that many of the people calling for private tour funding also called the overall imposition of the sequester cuts a victory for Republicans.
Others note it’s possible that the offer to pay for the tours could backfire.
For one thing, if tours, why not education funds for poor kids? Lots of things are being cut, fairly or not. Democrats might start asking if the GOP’s offers reflect a socioeconomic bias.
And even if (though?) the White House has been overly dramatic about the impact of the sequester, real hardship will eventually occur at federal installations across the country. In the National Journal, national correspondent Jill Lawrence notes that local media across the country are beginning to report on the effects of the cuts on local airports, food banks, parks, and schools.
While the administration has been maladroit, “the barely suppressed GOP glee at the White House fumbles, and the cavalier acceptance of the sequester by some Republicans, is also bound to backfire,” Ms. Lawrence writes.

I'm sure everyone would contribute $ to a program they liked, or not pay for stuff they don't. But that's not how the gov't works. It's no an ala-carte menu. The gov't accepts donations, but there's no guarantee it will be put to use how you want it put to use.

And where is the intelligent right wing criticism of the Donald and ideas like this?
Its funny to listen to debate about how MSNBC only occassionally criticizes the left...
When has FOX News ever criticized the right?

This all started with Eric Bolling saying he would pay for one weeks worth of tours for the kids that got shafted.

That's great....
But I ask the question...
If its a stupid idea where's the criticism of FOX like I see around here for MSNBC?
It doesn't make it better that it started with a FOX analyst...ever see the comments made around here for Chris Mattthews, Lawrence O'Donnell, or Rachel Maddow?
But if Eric Bolling makes an idiotic comment and its backed up by another clown like Trump all of you media critics are silent?
And you guys say the "left wing" media is hypocritical....

This is why I can't stand that clown in the WH. He hates people that earn their own money because he knows a great percentage of them won't vote for him and his Marxist ways.
He's dictating who the winners will be. And the "ala-carte menu" is exactly what this dictator is feeding us... with his childish antics.
Were the sequester cuts supposed to double down on the military spending like the Blue Angles and the Thunderbirds? Or is he re-writing the cuts as he goes along?
If Donal Trump was to be allowed to pay for them, I would change millions of peoples minds and perceived view of him.

Donald only offered it because he knew they aren't able to take him up on the offer and his name would be in the news...

Trump is a clown but if the federal government really, seriously can't afford to fund WH tours there ought to be some permitted mechanism for private funding. Set up a foundation and let it raise money to staff the tours.

It's the thought/statement that counts.

how about let different big corporations sponsor the tours each month--the company gets free advertising and the CEO can lunch with the obama's at a 5 star DC restaurant!

Yes, empty gestures are what we hate about politicians, but love from private citizens.

Trump is a marketing machine and this is nothing more than him putting the Trump name out there. In the past couple of years we have seen Trump contemplate a run for President, take on the birther issue, which he got a ton of mileage out of, take on Obama's college transcripts, prove to Bill Maher that he is not an monkey and now offer to pay for the WH tours.
I don't know who Trump has doing his marketing but they are doing an excellent job at keeping his name in the headlines.

Absolutely correct. And if Donald Trump wants to make a major contribution to such a foundation, or even fund the whole thing, then more power to him.
I don't understand why the OP seems to think that FOX News, or anybody else for that matter, should be criticizing Donald Trump for his offer to contribute toward paying for the White House tours so that people can have an opportunity to see the historic building. But then again I don't understand other things the OP does, either. Like claim with no evidence whatsoever that Marco Rubio's parents are illegal aliens or that the Republican Party fabricated the prostitution allegations against Robert Menendez, etc.

And yet you probably voted for the king of the empty promise..... Your "private citizens" that voted for that dictator are the problem for voting these politicians into office.
However, I'm sure DT was perfectly willing to do it - not an empty gesture.....
