So rather than facts, just lame stuff like that? What, are supposed to claim that Republicans are Nazis or something?
This is real simple, West claimed that about 80 members of Congress are members of the Communist Party. Not opinion as in "I think they lean toward Communism ...." but claims of fact: They are members of the Communist Party.
Then he didn't have the guts to either name them or admit he didn't have a clue what he was talking about. That's just really, really weak.

Of course people like Grayson can say whatever they want , right? like..
"I have trouble listening to what (Cheney) says sometimes because of the blood that drips from his teeth while he's talking;;He's just angry because the president doesn't shoot old men in the face...'
or
The republican health plan for America: Don't get sick. If you have insurance, don't get sick. If you're sick, don't get sick. If you get sick America, the Republican health plan is this: Die quickly. That's right. The republicans want you to die quickly if you get sick.'
or "Scientists have studied for years this difficult question of why some people have a conscience and some people don't. Some people are called democrats and some are called republicans"
etc, etc,..

How many members of Congress are implicated in foisting off a $20 trillion dollar debt on our kids and grandkids?
Debate Communism and West in order to forget about the economic crisis that America is in. As I have said before, the money we are borrowing from China is one of two things: (1) a gift or (2) a loan.
I don't give a damn about what West says, does or thinks. I do care about the fact that we will be the first generation to screw our children out of a life that is better than ours.

No, same thing applies to Grayson, however, as you say does to West, unfounded allegations and ridiculous hyperbole.

So your point is that West is somehow excused from saying absurd stuff because someone else said something stupid, too? Is that how this works?

I believe that is how it works judging from your "but Bush did it too" examples!

Turnabout is fair play, River. How many posts have you posted castigating the intellectual wisdom (not to mention the eloquence) of our very own Congresswoman Corinne Brown?
"Go Gata!"
Compared to her, Carrie Meek, Wasserman-Schultz, Robert Wexler and many other morons in the house from Florida, West is a rocket scientist, and I doubt that any of them could past muster as a field grade army officer.

River has never liked Brown. He's even called her an embarrassment.

Something is just plain wrong with an American hero like Allen West being used as an analogy with an illiterate like Corinne Brown.

St Lucie Co also has among the highest foreclosure rates in the state. I'd shoot myself before living there. My wife and I tried spending a couple nights at a Courtyard on the Beach when visiting relatives and moved to the Marriott at Indian River Plantation one night into our stay as the occupants of the Courtyard were typical obnoxious, New Yorkers, bitching about everything...mostly the bagels at the free breakfast. Or maybe they had to pay for breakfast and were pissed.
That is what West was fighting and he almost pulled it out. Give him some normal constituents and he will kick ass.

I happen to live in the district to which you refer, although I'm not in St. Lucie. In a nutshell, here's what happened.
Redistricting left West with a more liberal district than he'd had before (Boca Raton area was added to a Broward district). So, to better his chances, West switched districts, moving north to Palm Beach Gardens to run in the newly drawn 18th - a more conservative area. That district is now made up of northern Palm Beach (fairly conservative), Martin (also fairly conservative) and St. Lucie (probably somewhat less conservative than the other counties, but not really a liberal bastion).
After an intense campaign (we probably had more broadcast ads, mail and calls on West/Murphy than all other races combined) West lost. The results in other area races don't really support the view that West was running in a liberal district. What happened, basically, is that the voters in a center/center-right district didn't buy what West was selling.
The winner, Patrick Murphy, portrays himself as a moderate and tries to distance himself from the OA here and there. Given the makeup of the district, he'll likely be vulnerable in 2014 if the GOP can field a reasonable candidate.
Based on 2012, it appears that for West to win a race again, he'll have to find an electorate that is very conservative and is also tolerant of his personal style, which was a liability last year.

This! In fact I don't ever recalling a post from anyone taking up for her. There may have been some but none that I remember.

Thanks for posting. Didn't realize West had switched districts to run.
My mom lives in Stuart/Martin Co which is heavily Republican as is Jupiter and the areas you mentioned in N Palm Beach Co. Romney beat Obama 61-38 in Martin Co and West beat Murphy 56-42.
St Lucie County is pretty Democratic. Murphy beat West 55-44 which was pretty close to what Obama beat Romney 53-45.
We could have told West that St Lucie Co would be trouble...more bagel shops than gas stations....very NY.
