pop out to styp near 1st, runner tags, but styp makes a great throw that makes runner retreat.

What do you do though if you are Sulley, I think his hands are tied.

Thanks coach.

He just has to look in the mirror and take it. He is the one that put this roster together.

I don't think there's much you can do, honestly. Oh well, at least there'll be plenty of room to stretch out at the games this season.

I don't why everyone is so surprised about this anyway. Heck, at least we didn't lose as bad as I thought we would last night. When you lose as much as we did from last year's roster and then lose several key players from your recruiting class, this stuff happens. There was nothing Sully could do about that.
These kids have to have time to play together as a squad and develop, and this year, we're gonna have to take our lumps.
That said, you ought to hear the nolies crowing up here in Tally this morning. They act like they've won their first CWS.

I was watching the game on Gator Vision last night and how negative the UF announcers were. This is a very young team and will grow throughout the season. I feel sorry for the pitchers in that they are not getting any run support and need to be perfect. With Sully working with them on perfection, they can only get mentally stronger and will be a force in the coming games.

There's a difference between rebuilding with new players and what we're seeing this year. The entire team has an OPS under .700, we have 32 extra base hits in 18 games, and the team ERA is 4.50. I don't think it's overreacting to say that literally the only guy on the team who has stepped up and been a surprise this year is Jay Carmichael. A couple other guys are playing to their ability levels, and that's fine, but there aren't enough of them. We had 2 non-freshmen in the lineup hitting under .200 last night, and when we had to pinch hit for them, we did it with 2 more guys hitting under .200. The 2 guys who were supposed to step in for Paco and Larson and be our horses out of the bullpen have a batting average against them of over .300. They're not freshmen either. Sully is giving just about everybody on the roster multiple chances to win jobs, and NOBODY is taking advantage of it.
It's really hard to see this team finishing over .500 at this point. Indiana and FGCU are good teams, but we ain't seen nothing yet compared to the SEC schedule. I'll be pleasantly suprised if the Gators go 5-10 over the next 5 weekends. If they can do that, the schedule lightens up a bit in the back half. I just hope it's not too late.

you're right on w/ the assessment DD11.
when we've faced the friday arms - presumably the aces ...and throw in last night,
we avg under 2 runs for the 9 innings.
we do better against the others on the pitching staffs. probably tripling that avg.
pitching, ...just looking at the typical scores against seems to be fairly consistent in that regard. in the range of 4's to 7's/8's type range. that won't win much when you're only scoring 2-6 runs a game but it's consistent.
i do like how sully is giving everyone a chance to perform, though. might be the only way to i.d. the 'gamers'. so far, still waiting on a few to break out on the big stage.

Well, we are starting with Ky---and they usually pitch backwards and throw their ace on Sunday attempting to keep from being swept. Baseball is a great game, not for the weak of heart...it's a marathon, not a sprint. Will these guys be great this year?? These guys will be young this year and grow and mature from the season. Is that what you want to hear?? Probably not, but they are Gators and don't ever think that doesn't mean anything to them.....

Come on, there is no excuse for UF to be 8-10 this year despite how much they lost from last year and in the recruiting class.
As far as there was nothing Sully could do about it? Sure there is, he could recruit a mix of kids who may go pro and those who will be good college players but need some development.
I don't know many FSU fans who think this team is anything special, but they sure have played pretty well through 16 games. I expect them to finish between 2nd and 4th in the ACC and be in the mix to host. I don't think they will be a national seed, but you never know.
Again, so what you will about the lack of titles but a rebuilding year under Martin means a #2 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Hey, it isn't that big of deal, so we lost to FSU, they have what, 15, 20 CWS championships...
