I wonder how many hats get sucked into the intakes each year? Check out this one from the cockpit. If you notice, the crew is running two cameras which would clearly be contrary to policy. After all, anything with a switch is supposed to be turned off. LOL

There are videos of planes taking off from that end, people try to hold on to the fence and get blown like 100 yards.

I think that pilot was trying to cut it as close as possible. It sounds lihe he even had to power up there at the end just to miss the fence. I have been there and we watched a couple of 747's come in and none were ever that low.

I have been to that place, it's a popular destination for tourists. There's a bar/restaurant right by the beach where the people watch the planes take off and land. I didn't get to see a 747, but as you can imagine it's a short runway for so large a plane.

Because the approach to Runway 10 is over water, pilots do become disoriented regarding their perceived altitude when operating under visual flight rules. Normal instrument checks, coupled with experience and situational awareness, mitigate potential problems.

I have landed there as a passenger several times. The videos make it look worse than it is. Probably, if you went to any airport and took videos from the same position they would look like that.

I've spent hours watching some of these crazy landings...take offs too....and just love them. One of my favorites....
