Default Florida HUD laws

I bought a place for my 80yr old mom and brother in Pensacola so they wouldn't waste $1K on an apartment and it's easy for her to move around since it's a single level duplex. The place is part of homeowner's association but recently my brother has noticed a number of HUD families showing up as renters and they are turning the place into an inner city projects. I thought in order to rent to HUD tenants all homeowners have to be notified and they have to approve of it beforehand? I told my brother to get himself a shotgun for self-defense. I'm thinking of going down and talking with the President of the HOA and maybe taking legal action against the homeowners that rented their unit out.

you need to read your HOA docs, if they do not have a provision on lease/rental approval by the board/officers with specifics (like criminal history or bad credit) you have no recourse.

Decisions like tenant approval is done by the your elected board, not every owner, unless you are involved or on the board most home owners do not have a clue what the HOA does or what is in their docs.

I am on my HOA board, it sucks but a necessary evil to keep a watch on my interests.

I own and rent out multiple properties in Pensacola. I get multiple hud calls from renters for one of my duplexes. I take NO HUD. I rent more than hud pays anyway and its illigal to take partial hud payment. They destroy building like termites. That sucks. I'd demand a lease termination with a full refund of my deposit and move.
