Summary of the last 7 minutes
Here's what the play-by-play shows. Any UF basket would've probably resulted in OT. Other than not being able to hit a shot, turnovers were the biggest controllable factor.
7 Fouls
6 Missed Jumpers
5 Turnovers
3 Missed Layups
2 Missed Three Point Jumpers
2 Defensive Rebounds
2 Offensive Rebounds

Thanks for the rundown! Now, may I substitute a swift kick in the nutz for having read and re-lived this?

It was really one of the worst runs I've seen us play in several years. The turnovers were just ridiculous. Its not like UK's defense was causing them... we just kept passing it right to them, or throwing it 10 yards out of bounds. I mean... what the heck was going on??

I had to summarize things so I could deal with it, and yeah it was like getting a kick when I saw the futility of those few minutes.

btw, UK got 10 points on foul shots during this time period. Without the foul calls, we would've won (I didn't tape the game so I can't judge whether UF getting called for a foul-a-minute was justified.)

I get you, my fellow Gator. I guess my method of coping is different. I try to ignore the ugly stats and focus on big-picture issues. But I was joking with you, too. Thanks for the facts.

Really? I would agree until thinking about Arizona. That's what is disconcerting. Twice in one year

It was for sure one of the longest runs of putrid play we've seen in years. However Arizona may have been worse. We could not even inbound the ball. It was reminiscent of not even being able to snap the ball correctly a la the Miami (OH) football game in 2010.

Still baffles me how KB had an excellent first half but didn't play aggressive enough offensively.Who would have thought his first shot in the second half would be with 15 second left in the game???

I had a strong feeling that KB might have one of those 3-point barrages in the second half so I was kind of focused on watching for him to shoot. I didn't see him pass up any open looks (and I know many of you don't even want him taking those), so I credit UK for playing some good defense.
The last seven minutes were putrid, but we did have some good possessions, including the last shot by KB. I always consider it a good possession when we take a good shot, even if we miss. We had, I think, at least 5 good shots during that stretch: Young with 3 great looks, Prather with 2 good looks (and maybe a foul) on one possession, and Boynton's last shot.

Driving back from North Carolina, I had to listen to the last few minutes on an in-and-out radio channel. Sounds like Patric Young was intimidated by the UK big man. Yes ? No ?

Oh I agree. Yes those turnovers were horrid (esp the 2 by Rosario), but like you said we did get some gook looks, like the Young layup attempt and Prather with couple shots too. Plus this time, Kb took a shot 15 away instead of 30.

I don't know about intimidation, but Young may have rushed those late open looks he had after their big man blocked a couple of his shots (even though one was while the big man was still on the bench). Young is not used to having his shot blocked often. I assume Donovan will use that as a teachable moment and will be coaching Young to take it up next time with confidence no matter what might have happened the play before.
That UK center looked like a stiff back when Noel was playing. But, he has really come on recently. Now I think he looks like another legitimate NBA lottery pick. Good for him. That block he made on Young (after a beautiful fake and feed from Wilbekin I believe) that would have been a dunk was impressively Noel-like!!! But, if we see him again, we need to react/play accordingly.
