3 things that baffle me . . . .
1) How does Young end with 2 rebounds? This is a theme, and one I will never be able to explain. I have never seen a guy play so much softer than his physical attributes would suggest. He played scared.
2) How does Billy keep Rosario in the game despite countless awful passes? If I see that over the shoulder flip pass again, it many induce vomitting.
3) How do we not attack a guy with 4 fouls? This falls on both Billy and his players. Young was tentative when he should have attacked. The only time CS was challanged was on a charge call. Poor coaching. Poor execution.

I did notice Young really focusing on boxing out and screening his guy from the ball to allow others to get boards, I don't know if that is by design or just Youngs own doing but I saw it a couple of times

Is two rebounds one half of a double-double?

At times, yes. Not an overall theme, but in this game and the UT game.

Young is just not a good rebounder for his physical abilities. Secondly, for some reason, he's always extending his defense all the way out to the three point line against a non-shooting threat like Cauley-Stein when he should be around the basket for rebounds and protecting the rim.

aka agree on all points.
Another baffling point:
Florida had at least 5 chances to extend their 7 point lead and came up with nothing. Kentucky was actually turning it over on their possessions as if to try and give Florida the game on a silver platter but the Gators came down the court and either threw it away themselves or missed their chance every opportunity because they couldn't buy a basket. I guess the players were insulted that the platter was silver and not gold.

The killer to me was point #3. CS gets in with 4 fouls and11 minutes to go and why we didn't force it into the post and attack him- even if it meant some ugly possessions, is beyond me. With him out of the game, UK had absolutely no offensive flow at all. We get get him to foul out and we win going away.

I see Young working hard to get position (maybe he takes some plays off too, but I don't know if that is the primary problem).
Young simply has hands of stone, so at times the ball will just bounce of him. He probably also doesn't react or anticipate as well as some guys. If the film is studied, he probably misses at least 2 or 3 rebounds every game that he is actually "in-position" to make. . Young is 6'9 and in most games is probably the most physical guy on the floor. But that doesn't automatically make you a good rebounder. Look at how Dennis Rodman rebounded the ball, and how Yeguette is probably our best rebounder (and Prather might be our 2nd best at "finding" the ball). There is almost an "art-form" to rebounding the ball. Some people have it, some don't.
However that being said, I don't think there is an excuse to just have 2 rebounds. I made this very same thread when he had only 2 or 3 rebounds in one of our previous losses.

Much to be baffled about in this game. I'm pretty much speechless, except to say that I agree with the posts on this thread.

Young is just plainly not a student of the game of basketball. He is not scared or soft. He just does not know how to play.

I don't think coaching was bad. We missed like 8 lay ups at the end. Billy had his players in a position to win the game, but we just didn't execute. If we score one or two more baskets or don't turn the ball over as much, we probably win.

His other option is Europe. He simply is soft and not offensively skilled. Seems like a good guy, but not a great bball player.

I hope to high heavens he leaves. I am sick of watching him with zero improvement.

He is hedging to prevent a three by the guard. He knows the big is no threat to shoot it so he defends the guard until his guard recovers, if his man dives to the basket typically the four will slide into rotation and defend until he recovers. You know pretty much the same thing we have done all year when we were all thrilled with how great our defense was playing.
As for a lack of rebounds I saw him have his man sealed numerous times when someone else gets the board. He reminds me more of a defensive lineman who eats up blockers for the linebackers.
The real problem, as has been discussed at length, is our inability to finish close games time and time again.

Are you serious? Where would Florida be this year without him?
