What I don't understand
How a team FILLED with UPPERCLASSMEN cannot win a road game against a decent team AND cannot win a close game?!? Our starting lineup is all Juniors, Seniors and a 5th year senior. Our bench rotation is 2 juniors and a freshman. Our top 7 players are all upperclassmen. These experienced guys fold when it gets tough, they can't hit shots and they commit unforced turnovers. I just don't understand it.

Young missed a short jump hook and an open reverse layup in the last few minutes of the games. It's not just our guards, it's everyone on the team.

Rosario had a terrible game. Don't know why he was even in there. Killed the momentum.

We definitely do seem to get tight. Say what you will about Erv, but he thrived in pressure situations.

We have a bunch of flawed role players that Billy has turned into a great team this year. We lack a truly great player on this team that can get you a basket when you need it.

The biggest reason for the loss today imo was Rosario. not sure what is up with him

This team has no balls. Zero balls when it comes to facing in-game adversity.
We have no balls

I Prolly get roasted for this but Boynton takes and misses shots during crunch time. He missed a wide open wilbekin for 3 at the end.
He was successful when driving the ball.

Its pretty sad. These guys have been playing together for years and cannot and go into Kentucky and beat one of their least talented ragtag group of freshman and transfers, struggling with injuries and foul trouble.

To be fair to them, they did win a close game against Alabama. They just did it so well, it didn't seem like a close one afterward.
To be honest, I don't care about this concern so much. What I am concerned about, however, is that we didn't blow those guys out in the first 30 minutes of the game. UK did not play particularly well, in my opinion. We were superior at most positions. Why weren't we up by 15-20 by crunch time? That is very disconcerting.
After 1 minute to go, you are going to be bashing a team because an in-and-out shot went out. If it stayed in we might be talking about how clutch they've become, but the two scenarios are virtually identical.

Why does he consistently try no look passes? Sometimes it's okay. But if he's dribbling top of the key with someone on the wing, just look them in the eyes and pass it to them. He no looks it constantly and has no idea where it's going. Today, it went to the other team alot. I get if you're on a fast break and you want to fool a defender with a no look. But Mike does it sometimes just for the heck of it. Very frustrating.

First time since Arizona that I have dissed the Gators! I know this was the most meaningless game of the year because it doesn't change our seeding in SEC tourney but man did the stink it up the last 10 min.

Close games, away from home are problems for this team. Wish I could say differently. Guard play has been lacking ..... too careless with the ball. Patrick did not muscle up....too timid. No go to guy ........ one on one, we have no one. We need lots of luck.

To be fair too, the OP said they couldn't win a close road game which unfortunately is true.

Mike should have been benched for Frazier in this game. He was playing with his head in his @ss all game long, on the offense side of the ball that is.

Yeah and IF my aunt had a package she would be my uncle.
If the shot goes in then it is clutch.
If the shot does not go in it is not clutch.
You get nothing for how "close" it was to going in.

I believe he said two different things:
1) a road game against a decent team
and
2) a close game (no site specified)
At least that is how it is written.
I know that we are all frustrated. Trust me, I am right there. I finally bought into our team after years of keeping my hope reserved. My faith is shaken after the last few weeks, but I really don't think that losing close games and winning blowouts is a reason to concern anyone.

Another thing I don't understand is why we hardly ever take advantage of mismatches. Our guards don't blow by the big men on a switch and we don't feed Young or Murphy posted up on a small guard on a switch. And how long was their big guy in the game with 4 fouls without our guys trying to take it to him and get him out of the game. 10+ minutes it seemed like. With him on the bench we owned Kentucky.
