Default The president's plan

some good stuff----but many gimmicks---vey non specific cuts 'other savings' etc
IU trust fund solvency....blah blah.
This is NOT how you achieve long term budget reform---this is pathetic.

Also the 4 trillion figure is now out of date given EXPANSIVE spending under Obama. Latest estimates call for 6.7 trillion in cuts to put us on a path that is sustainable. So even this fantasy plan of president---full of nonspecific ideas and some creative accounting----falls more then 2 trillion short.

would love to know what the $1.4 Trillion in cuts already enacted are.

$600B in new taxes counted as deficit reduction when it is all being spent?

and would like to know the defintion of "cut". a decrease in the amount of the increase is not a "cut"

love how much he likes to use the term "wealthiest"

$120B in "other" health savings - really??

that chart has increased TSA fees as a savings??? guess I need to get a DC dictionary so I can understand this chart.

how do you get savings by increasing UI?

They'll try to say wealthiest is >200k a year, which is by definition true, but also saying >5 k a year is also the wealthiest Americans.

I see dems budging on that definition to put other things in there ( like maybe more military cuts, or something that will cause pubs to uproar, but ultimately budge)

They are going to reduce costs of drugs by "negotiating" with drug companies?

Suppose a company has a patented drug and does not choose to sell it more cheaply.

What then?

Not hard to guess.

That would be money he has thought about spending but is holding off for now in order to make 'his plan' look better. This will also be the lynchpin his supporters will grasp onto claiming how Obama has submitted a plan.

All part of the same old same old that constitutes what has been going on in DC for decades. We will never see true change until we vote out all the career politicians. Unfortunately, way too many voters are way too caught up in their teams and pom poms to actually make that change.

not selling to one of the worlds largest buyer of drugs would probably be a stupid move, but certainly allowable

are you really against this free-market principle of using leverage to negotiate? Private sector insurance certainly does it

A better word for "gimmicks" may be hoax. That is easy. The Hoax pulled on the American people by the biggest extortionist in history. The slacker...Barak Hussein Obama. Somehow the extortionists equates tax increases with cuts. Last time I checked, they are not the same thing.
