Scientology indoctrination requirement for a job?
I have a niece who accepted a job from a Chiropractor in Wichita, Ks. She was required to attend "training" for two weeks which turned out to be Church of Scientology in Wichita. First day they're getting on her about her jewelry and Harley jacket. Not sure if it's a job requirement but if so I would think she'd have some kind of action.
She needs the job, had no idea of anything about the COS and needless to say...quit?
I didn't know chiropractor's could get rid of alien souls?
Opinions? I'll have more details later.
Edit:
deleted link to the practice.

My suggestion from the get-go is she should drop the matter and get another job. She should be afraid.....very afraid.
This is the Scientology m.o. Persuade or require training, then they got ya. They want your money....plain and simple. They use brutal, persuasive tactics to do that.
Filing suit against them only opens the door to years of harrassment, attack on your reputation and finances. They delay the suit til you're not only broke but a broken person.
google them or go to Tampabay.com....lots of investigative reporting.
mb, she doesn't need this job that bad.

Tell her to get the heck away, yesterday!!!!
There's plenty of solid info on the internets about this criminal organization and it's deception and fraud.
Scientology targets dentists and chiropractors with their "non-religious" biz training called WISE which ensnares otherwise unknowing folk into funneling money to the cult, and it is a freaking cult masquerading as a religion.
There's a huge expose from the TB Times from 2009 that covers this in Florida that is a must read. Tell her to read it and be gone!

nana and jdr are correct.
She needs to run (not walk) away from these people.
They will ruin her life and bust up every good family/friend relationship she has, in the process... after milking all said family members and friends for as much money as possible.

Thanks nana. Just got a little update. She was told she would be going to management training. She knew it was at the COS but knew nothing about the organization. She had been through "Christian" Management training at other doctors office's and it was basically going through manuals at your own pace.
At the COS there was immediate "judgement" because of her jacket and bracelet (evil eye warder offer, whatever) followed by questions of whether she smoke or drank.
They wanted to know her (and her husbands & kids) birthdays and hour of birth, moon phases, etc. to see if the were all in "alignment".
They wanted to know where she lived (she refused) and then wanted a copy of her DL (refused again). Scary stuff.
Complaint to the labor board of re: the chiropractor may be in order. Name available PM.
She had the "Book of John" with her from seeing me in the "99" (another thread) when they came to visit a couple of weeks ago and you would have thought it was kryptonite.

She needs to sprint. Just quit. Worry about a new job afterward.
They've taken over Clearwater. I've been following Sceintology for about five or six years now (as a cult/deviant organization) and it is bad news, and that bad news extends out to the private biz's in which their tentacles reach.
It's scary, surreal stuff.

Once you get "clear" after years of costly auditing, its smooth sailing though. Plus you get to find out about Xenu.

Wow. I feel better and I don't even know her. hahaha. Tell her it was the smartest move she ever made, seriously. I think you really should have her (and you) read the TB expose, and watch the videos from ex-members. It's some real whacked out stuff. It's a damn criminal enterprise.
Check out this particular edition of the expose about a Florida dentist, Rene Piedra, who got hooked in. There's plenty more about Scientology and associated WISE businesses, but if this doesn't send a bit of a chill down your spine...

If I were her, I'd not file any complaint.....seriously, it's dangerous.
She should let it all go.
It's a big relief she has quit.

Exactly what nana says, md.
Scientology has a sordid history of going after detractors. They sue the sh-- out of people, anyone, everyone that crosses them. They sick private investigators on them, harass folk, perform all sorts of dirty tricks. It's a nasty, ugly biz they call " fair game".
This is an organization that conned their way into gaining religion status tax exemption through fair gaming the damn gov. They even got caught breaking into government offices (for which L Ron Hubbard's wife and others were arrested and imprisoned). It's nuts.
Tell her to just drop it and watch safely from the sidelines.

Mb. Remind me at lunch in two weeks to tell you about the company I worked for years ago that I found out was run by scientology. As others have posted here.... Scary and strange. But as Nana said, it is all about getting your money.

Great advice all. I appreciate it. I have forwarded this page and the news article to her and followed up with a call.
On a side note I was at the Strawberry Festival last night and "played" with at their booth. Before it was over I had all five of them pissed off at me.

Almost gave a young man my card to see if I could talk some sense into him later without his peer pressure. After reading these posts I'm glad I didn't.
Older guy (bout my age) who knew about Xenu didn't take kindly my query about how much he'd spent to learn about alien souls.
I referred him to WWW.clambake.org before they rushed me off.
Wife wasn't real happy with me.

Operation Clambake is one of the original sites exposing Scientology. Great resource.

The episode of South Park about Scientology is hilarious, you all should watch it! Anyways yes they can get in trouble for that, it's against her beliefs.
