I predicted that about Cottrell to Bama too, that it would take about three years and the NCAA would be investigating in Tusky. Then what, 2 1/2 years later? There was the NCAA, officially investigating in Tusky.
Cottrell was a master at FSU though. The stories I could tell you about what went on in Tally at a number of popular watering holes during the evenings when recruits were taking official visits.

True - resentment fuels their side of the rivalry. I also think part if it is that in Gainesville we rarely ever see Nole stuff, but there are lots of Gators in Tally so we are effectively in their grill all the time.
Regardless, their syndrome is nothing compared to A&M's with Texas.

Loved this quote, about sums it up:

What would we need to accomplish for him to get a real extension next season in your opinion? Winning 10 games by default against this horrible schedule and losing to the only two teams worth a damn shouldnt' be enough.

LOL!!

With FSU, their entire season's success is based mostly on beating UF. The ACC title is secondary to that.

They hate us. I remember watching FSU-Miami one year, and Bob Griese made a great point. He talked about how FSU-Miami had more of a "brotherhood" type of feel to the rivalry, but made the astute observation that there was a different feeling when you brought Florida into the mix. He pointed out that there is true animosity when either one of those teams play the Gators, and I agree with him.
They (FSU) can talk all they want about how Miami is their biggest rival, but it's a load of crap. They'd rather beat us than breathe.

Very true, because you never hear a nolie saying "as long as we beat Miami, the season is a success".

FSU's preseason rankings last year were the most ridiculous overrating of a college football team ever. If they don't come down to earth in those preseason polls this year, he is history, because they aren't going to improve.

The leading prediction absurdity in recent years is that their OL will finally come together under Rick Trickett. That fact is they have not yet recruited well on the OL under Fisher, have not yet developed those guys into an effective unit, cannot run and their QB has gotten hurt or battered into mistakes in big games.

Though I agree that preseason ratings are mostly to sell magazines, and I'd also agree that generally they have put FSU too high, last year the AP and Coaches had FSU at preseason #7. Ending postseason with an avg. of those two polls having FSU at #9 is probably more accurate than I usually would expect.

Maybe if they'd have played a tougher schedule. I'd have ranked them about #15.

What I've heard the last 6 months from Nole fans here in Tally is that the ACC is quickly becoming the old Big East. Every team joining the ACC has come from the BE in Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Va. Tech, Miami, Boston College, and next Louisville.

I'm not totally sure about that I mean do you think Boom would be in trouble if he loses a third straight to UGA but we end the year say 10-2?

I don't know, because I was talking about FSU being obsessed about UF being their biggest win of the season each year, not UF - UGA. That said, if we went 10 - 2 against our usual strength of schedule with a loss to UGA? I mean honestly, did Gator fans think we'd always win against UGA?
At least for now, UGA will be one of those games where it will usually be close and could go either way with the talent on the field. It wasn;t always going to be lopsided in UF's favor as it has been for the last 20 years.

That's what I meant though if Jimbo wins the ACC and makes the playoffs often enough I don't think FSU fans will care about a .500 or so record against us anymore than Florida fans will care about Boom being the first Gator coach since Pell to lose 2 games to the Dawgs.

FSU was overrated, but they weren't even the most overrated team LAST year. There were 13 teams that were more overrated than FSU last year.
