Can't find any headlines about our clinching the SEC last night anywhere...

Because its not a big deal to them, they think the SEC is bad (which it is) and its not Kentucky in the news. pretty simple.

ESPN hasn't pretended to care about the SEC this year at all. Honestly, the conference is horrible. I know some will disagree with this to a degree. But one ranked team is horrible for a major, 14 team conference.
You guys have a shot to get your respect in the tournament. They can't ignore that.

If it was Kentucky that won they would have said something.

ESPN is too busy posting meaningless Laker headlines, such as "Kobe vows team will make playoffs", "Nash has no regrets", "Dwight Howard vows to get in shape", "Lakers cruise past T-Wolves to get within 3 games of .500". Whatever space is left gets devoted to inane LeBron headlines like "LeBron mum on 2015 Dunk Contest", "LeBron contemplates 2016 Olympics", etc.

all about the stars. Who cares about the teams? ESPN is the sports version of Entertainment Tonight.

ESPN bases its headlines mostly on what brings the hits since hits mean advertisers and advertisers mean revenue (which is why they work Tiger Woods, LeBron James, Cowboys, Lakers, Yankees, et al into the headlines on the slightest pretext). BB isn't a huge deal in most SEC schools, especially when most of the teams aren't very good as they aren't this year. So posting a headline about say Auburn isn't going to bring nearly the hits that one about say Indiana will bring. Any team except Ky could win the SEC and ESPN would ignore it and post a headline about the color of the tee used by Tiger Woods instead.

Access Hollywood. I agree.
In general, is ESPN going to make a huge deal out of a regular season conference title for anyone? My guess is, unless it affects seedings or is between two top teams in the same conference, its just not going to be very interesting to most fans. Reg season titles are very important to us fans of the specific team its concerning, but not the rest.
No denying Kentucky gets better media treatment. Its because of ratings and rep. No doubt UK football would get worse than average publicity compared with other SEC football teams. UK was terribly overrated heading into the season. They had an all-access series and have another documentary about them airing on TBS/TNT on selection Sunday. Its only because ad revenue runs sports. There's a good chance UK isn't even involved in selection Sunday.
Trust me, ESPN and other media outlets are still in entertainment mode right now. But come tourney time, they'll head in the direction of journalism to a degree at least and will cover the teams who are doing the most.

Miami and Georgetown losing were bigger stories.
Also, I agree about ESPN'S stupid focus on the Lakers, who are a .500 team.

I don't think ESPN is so much as anti gators as they are anti SEC in everything.

The only time I turn on ESPN is when they have something specific I want to watch. I lost interest in them a long time ago.

ESPN definitely picks and chooses. College football they gear a little more towards the SEC. Basketball is Big 10, Big East, ACC... MLB all you see is the Yankees, Red Sox, and Phillies on TV... NFL lol! It's the same damn Monday night teams every year, I mean how many times can they put a crappy Philadelphia eagles team on Monday night! I hate ESPN...

Agreed. I can only watch them for their live broadcasts now. I can't wait until they get some competitors (apparently Fox Sports is launching a new channel), just so people stop putting ESPN on a pedestal and caring so much about every damn headline, article, and talking head on there like they are the ultimate authority on everything sports. Theyre a bunch of hacks!

Now they are going to bring back Keith Olbermann. Even more reason to hate them.

This is a curious sentiment, because the college football boards at the Big 10, Big 12, and Pac 12 ALL have constant threads about the ESPN-SEC love affair. I wonder why your perspective is so very different from theirs?
