You're preaching to the choir on this. I do think people do trust "their" guy more than the other guy (perhaps even rightly), but that's the reason I oppose extra-legal droning. That rationale only perpetuates bad policy.

In late September 1981, Sen. William Proxmire of Wisconsin (D) spoke for 16 hours and 12 minutes in an attempt to halt an increase in the debt ceiling to more than $1 trillion. He held the floor overnight, finally giving in at 10:26 a.m. Sept. 29. Proxmire, who had long expressed concern about the nation’s rising debt, hoped his action would bring public attention to the issue.

Some Democrat just "objected" to his filibuster and tried to get him to quit, I didn't catch who it was. Said there's nothing to worry about because they are going to hold hearings on the drone program and invited Paul to attend. Paul said thanks that's nice but I'm not falling for that one and I'm not done talking.

Sen. Paul's friend Sen. Ted Cruz is back. He is reading a series of Tweets supporting Paul. Technically Cruz is not supposed to make statements while a speaker has the floor, only ask questions, so he started by saying, "I would like to ask if my colleague is aware of the reactions of the American people in response to his actions here today?" And then commenced to reading Tweets. It's about five minutes of them so far.....

Haha Ive been watching for a couple of hours and I cannot change the channel.
He's covered posse comitatus, NDAA and indefinite detentions, he's quoted Franklin with giving up liberty for some security, and talked about the Missouri fusion center calling out survivalists and pro life people possibly right wing extremists. Really good stuff!
Also talked about his opinion of the book 1984. The man is getting some work done.

Paul had a unanimous consent motion calling any use of drone strikes on American soil on Americans should be unconstitutional. Durbin just for up and denied the motion to come to a vote. He wasn't trying to get him to quit. Funny thing is, Paul prefaced the motion by saying that it would be rejected for a vote anyways but emphasized how ridiculous it is that the opposing party would not allow a vote calling drone strikes on American soil unconstitutional.

Someone should give him this little nugget by DHS:
http://start.umd.edu/start/publicati...STerrorism.pdf
here is a sample indicating what they believe is "extreme right-wing":
"Extreme Right-Wing: groups that believe that one’s personal and/or national “way of life” is under attack and is either already lost or that the threat is imminent (for some the threat is from a specific ethnic, racial, or religious group), and believe in the need to be prepared for an attack either by participating in paramilitary preparations and training or survivalism. Groups may also be fiercely nationalistic (as opposed to universal and international in orientation), anti-global, suspicious of centralized federal authority, reverent of individual liberty, and believe in conspiracy theories that involve grave threat to national sovereignty and/or personal liberty."
Reverent to individual liberty? Unreal....

Barrasso from Wyoming is reading Paul's letter to Brennan and making the point from the letter how is it not paradoxical the the federal government must go in front of a judge for permission to get a wire tap on an individual overseas yet doesn't need any permission for a lethal drone strike on that very same individual?!?
