Obama Cancels Public WH Tours
Blames sequestration.
Just another example of how he has such disdain for the public and is willing to inflict any amount of discomfort to try and score political points. I would bet that just one of his speaking trips out to some location of convenience would be enough funds to keep the tours going but he isn't going to miss a chance to slow jam with Fallon so the public tours can continue.

Quote:
The White House is canceling tours of the president's famous abode starting next week, saying the budget cuts that went into effect last week are to blame.
A phone recording on the call line for White House visitors informs callers that White House tours will be canceled, starting this weekend.
"Due to staffing reductions resulting from sequestration, we regret to inform you that White House tours will be canceled effective Saturday March 9th, 2013 until further notice," the recording says. "Unfortunately, we will not be able to reschedule affected tours. We very much regret having to take this action particularly during the popular spring touring season."
The reason for the cancellations, an official with the Secret Service told NBC News, is because the Uniformed Division Officers normally tasked with securing the tours will be reassigned to other security posts at the White House. The move will reduce overtime costs and may reduce the number of furloughs the Secret Service could potentially face, according to the official.

rather than have SS agents have to take furlough days they shut down the public tours.
love the response

In an amendment to a GOP stopgap budget bill headed to the floor later this week, Rep. Louis Gohmert, R-Texas, suggested that no funds from the bill be used "to transport the President to or from a golf course until public tours of the White House resume."

Good. Who cares about the tours. If they save some money, why is this a bad thing? You guys are just irrationally disagreeable at this stage.

Note, this thread is right next to the one about giving $250 million to Morsi's government. I wonder what kind of support you'd get in a referendum, about giving them, say, $245 million and still letting the American people have access to THEIR house (Obama doubtless thinks of it as his).

It is one of the biggest attractions in DC and kids and families from across the US as well as international visitors to DC look forward to it when visitng DC but I guess his golf games and photo ops are more important than what the minions want.
Millions of dollars in waste that could easily be cut without impacting the public but this narcissist in chief is doing anything he can to try and make the sequester cuts inconvenience people. I really hope this little stunt comes back to bite him in the arse. This could be just what it takes to expose this fraud.

This is just petty politics from a guy who is pouting because he did not get his way. Those tours are conducted by volunteers. No need at all to shut them down. Obama is perhaps the most incompetent leader we have ever had. He goes around day after day constantly bashing republicans, refuses to sit down and meet with them and then tells the public he does not understand why Republicans will not compromise and work with him.

I agree stop the tours, anything to stop the growth of fed govt. One step at a time. Get as many people off the government payroll as we can.

Wrong again Cal. I've pointed out plenty of things that Bush and his gang did wrong.....
You have me confused with someone else.

reminds me of the spoiled kid that pitches a fit because his mommy wouldn't buy him the candy bar in the line at the grocery store. the narcissist cannot handle not getting his way and this is just another example of his lack of character. his mommy probably never told him no.

Who would want to tour the White House with Obama in it?

Well, it does look like Barry-Oh! has picked out the most public kinds of ways to make his political points about not getting his way. Does anybody really think that canning TSA folks and Air Traffic Controllers is really necessary ? Or did he just pick those because they will have the most public impact - irritating the most folks possible ?
Come on.
It's just like a little kid stomping up and down and holding his breath.

I've said that very thing in numerous posts lately---and I am anxious to see just when or if the lefties in here will acknowledge or admit their chosen one is guilty of doing it. It is more than obvious what he is doing intentionally---glaringly obvious. But do you think the libs in here will admit it?
It is his way of stating "See?---I told you this would happen if the sequester goes through. Exactly what I told you would happen because of those mean, ol Republicans"....and all the time, it is Obama who is pulling the strings. His actions goes far beyond sickening and no one...NO ONE on his side will own up to it.

So we have a bunch of conservatives here who all of the sudden are very concerned about government employees losing their jobs. Funny stuff. A lot of these guys wanted the sequester and now they are blaming Obama for the cuts. Did you fellers think that we could cut 85 billion in a year and there'd be no impact?

No, I understand the point of the thread. You guys are ok with the cuts, as long as the people who lose their jobs aren't noticed, and as long as services aren't interrupted. If we do notice someone losing their job, or if we have to spend more time in lines at airports, well, that't just Obama playing politics.
