FSU sets new series in football
With Boise St. I kind of wish Florida would get on the same path here. JMO but it would be nice to see Florida play a top out of conference team every year even if it is Boise St., it would definitely get Florida fans more excited and pumped... But like I said just my opinion.

I agree. Having said that, I hope fsu gets smacked around in both games.

When you play F$U's schedule, you need to add a game like this..........they would never survive the SEC schedule.

Ok I agree but not every team in the SEC is really hard... Better than most yes, but why not set a home and away wit Oklahoma, or Ohio St? Possibly Texas or maybe USC... Something to give the fans a reason to be real pumped about the season... I completely understand we play LSU, USCe, Georgia, and FSU every year with the possibility of Alabama, and Texas A&M.... Every once in a while, but if you threw in one of those other teams, then you can easily justify the hardest schedule argument, along with playing in the SEC...

It will only happen if both schools involved is willing to take one less home game for the corresponding year. I could see us doing this once, but I don't see how we can do it annually without losing a chunk of income.

IMO, Playing the SEC is a good enough most years and our strength of schedule (4th hardest rated in 2013) has not been an issue. Plus I really look forward to playing our conference opponents with the exception of a few (Vandy & Kentucky the Mississippi Schools )

Yea this year.. As a gator fan I have come to expect us to play FSU obviously, and sometimes Miami... It doesn't shock me to play Miami, it would shock me to play Oklahoma at Jerry's world in Dallas. I have said the SEC slate is already the hardest, but something as simple as this can rejuvenate the fan base of Florida, because if you win you get bragging rights, and everyone gets overly excited for these certain games.

As ND adds the ACC teams to its' football schedule, there is some serious talk that it will be a FSU home-away, skip a yr then repeat. I've not heard of the schedule with Louisville in the upcoming yrs.

We could play other teams IF they didn't want a home and home. I still can't understand why people don't get that. With 9 games mandated and one in Jax, we can't get into a H/H deal. What do we give up to make that happen? Jax or fsu? Our hands are tied.
When our SOS becomes an issue then we can talk, but it won't.
Go Gators!!!

Give up a cupcake game agains Georgia Southern or Louisiana Lafayette Techincal University.... I would gladly give up FSU for a couple years, they don't add strength to our schedule....

It has more to do with the lost receipts from playing Jacksonville and the annual home/away with FSU than about the quality of opponent. Foley doesn't want to give up another home game any more than he has to. This year we had 6 home games, would you have given up one of the cupcakes if it meant only having 5 home games in a season?

We don't do it because it doesn't make business sense to, plain and simple. No elite team is going to agree to a one-off game in Gainesville.
Look at it this way:
In Year One we play OU instead of Northeastern Southern Louisiana in Gainesville. We sell the 3,000 tickets to that game that would otherwise go unsold. Then in Year Two we play OU in Norman instead of North-Central Kentucky Military Academy at home.
Does the revenue from the 3,000 extra tickets we sold in Year One make up for the 80,000 tickets that would otherwise sell in Year Two that we don't get to sell because that home game now doesn't happen? Obviously not, and that's why we don't do it.

We've got a very difficult schedule every year. No need to change it too much. However, I would be ok with playing FSU every other year and then scheduling a PAC 10 or Big Ten team in it's place, in those years we don't play them.

What has been our average EOY SOS over that past 20 years or so. Compare that with just about any other team on average....you will see that in fact we don't need to make it any harder on ourselves.

Exactly...although entertaining in the short term, it's bad business to do a home and home like that. Let's kick butt during the regular season then play the OU and USC's of the world in a bowl
