That's because he LOVES the gators.

You might be comparing Eric's college post game to Matt's pro post game. Bonner was pretty crafty near the basket as a Gator. As good or better than Murph.

I don't know. If posters are really writing "soft" and "pathetic," those are the kinds of useless criticisms that are written all too frequently on game threads. Being a game thread should not be an excuse. Noting a missed box out, or a poor pass, however, are fair criticisms imo.

A lot of people need to re-read some of the posts they make in the game threads. Pile of complete BS.
Someone said Murph doesn't rebound and just stands there, all while he was the leading rebounder on the team today with almost double digit boards.
It's become unbearable wading through the bitching abd bullshit to follow the game with actual fans.

The only thing that bothers me about Murphy is how close he comes to a violation every time he in-bounds the ball. Drives me to distraction.

Surely you must be joking. This isn't the old Murphy. He's matured physically and as a player since he came here and might be the most important player on the team.

I probably am. I guess I have forgotten exactly what he was like at Florida, but I do think Murph is underrated down low.

His paint game has always been there, since his freshman year. I really wish we fed him in the post more. He is a guy I think we could go to in the post when we are trying to stop a run or slow momentum from a streaking opponent.

I think that most "bashing" comes from how a player is performing compared to his historical performance or how we think/hope he'll perform. I think Murphy had a great game.

Yeah, for me at least, emotions sometimes override sense in game threads Basketball has a lot of swings that feed emotions.

People are very emotional during in game threads. Most will post negative comments when any player does something negative. It shouldn't be taken as the overall view of a player. We shouldn't be so soft skinned either.
That said, I too feel that every time he touches the ball that he's going to do something wrong with it. Him and Patric seem to have baby hands at times where they can't hold onto the ball effectively. Murph was getting pushed around like a rag doll against UT and Mizzou. It was frustrating seeing him hit the deck every other play. He had a good rebounding game today but it could have been better if he would just secure the boards.
Just because we appreciate/love our guys doesn't mean we don't want them to get better. I think him and Boyton are going to be the guys to lead us to the Final Four.

Our lack of an overall decent paint game this year has many of us frustrated, especially with a specimen in there.

Game threads are beyond frustrating sometimes. It's like what are you gonna do if you're playing just freak out bobby knight style? no you're gonna regroup and try to fix the problem. People just need to relax its a 40 minute game. The best players of all time at any level have had bad games. I guess my point is it just doesn't seem like some posters don't have any fun watching the gators. Isn't that the point?! No one is harder on themselves than the players I can promise you that.
As far as murph goes I thought it was funny someone said he was just standing around watching. Literally 10 seconds later he's scrapping for the ball under our hoop and gets a and one (maybe just 2 free throws)

Honestly, I find it's best to avoid game threads. People are fans, they get worked up and as someone above said, basketball is especially prone to wild swings of emotion. Worked up fans are going to say things they don't mean.
I yelled pretty awful things at Murphy during last year's Sweet Sixteen game when he got off to a bad start. I didn't mean them, and I didn't really feel bad about saying them, but I was glad I didn't put them down for other people to read.

I completely disagree that because it is a game thread it is OK to say whatever moronic thing that pops into someone's head.

I don't see anything wrong with dissing a players poor play. If a guy is playing like crap, what is wrong with saying so? This is basketball. One minute a guy is a goat the next he's the hero. We're all watching the same thing on the floor. Why not comment on it?
I sure hope our players are tougher skinned then some fans...
