2014 OT David Sharpe OT 6-7 275, Providence HS, Jacksonville FL gets Gator offer.

UNC Football Recruiting: Florida Gators Offer David Sharpe
Four-star offensive tackle David Sharpe is beginning to turn heads his way. The North Carolina Tar Heels target finally is beginning to see the attention he deserves. The Jacksonville, Florida high school junior picked up to in-state offers this month.
Jimbo Fisher and the Florida State Seminoles were first to make their pitch to Sharpe when they extended their offer on February 19th.
The Florida Gators just days later also made a scholarship offer to Sharpe.
Sharpe is leaning heavily towards both of the in-state schools in is recruiting process, but isn’t near making a decision.
In addition to the Tar Heels, Gators, and Seminoles, he has received offers from: Duke, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Liberty University.
However, it should be noted that Sharpe has no interest in Liberty. With a four-star rating at six feet, seven inches tall and 275 pounds of athleticism, who can blame a kid this talented for being interesting in a football program that will win and compete for championships.
Larry Fedora and the North Carolina Tar Heels were the first of the seven schools mentioned above to make an offer for Sharpe. It will more than likely be months down the road before Sharpe makes a decision on where he will play collegiate football.

Brief Commnet Abouit David Sharpe
I was wondering... we read about how a player from Jacksonville, David Sharpe has suddendly come on big time.
And I am not talking just within the state of Florida but... what I can see, nationally.
So, my question is: If there is an offensive tackle out there that is 6'7" and is over 300 pounds, as a JUNIOR... and plays a bit over 50 miles from our campus in JACKSONVILLE...
...then why does he suddenly come out of no where to be looking like one of the best linemen in the entire state... and one of the top linemen in the NATION?
Shouldn't our long-term contacts with the Jax high school coaches (and other Gator fans and alumni) clue us in about this guy?
I have been following recruiting since the mid-70's... and this just seems a bit strange.
Not trying to be picky here... I am just curious.

Maybe it's bacause he started getting strong enough to match his size. I see srs. who look the size but can't produce. Who knows why, immaturity, weakness, knowledge, confidence or even attitude. Simular to a guy in college who's a jr. or even a sr. who finally "gets it" .

Perhaps a better question is, "Does he have interest in the Gators?"

Don't know where the idea that Sharpe is a complete unknown, local or national...
Started getting offers in Feb and has UF, FSU, UNC, UGA, GTech, etc. on his list already
I posted this at the beginning of March....

My reasoning for Sharpe being basically unknown as the OP on this thread is based upon the article contained here in Gator Country, dated March 24th, 2013.
Here is the opening quote:
"One of the most talked about prospects in the country is Jacksonville (Fla.) Providence offensive lineman David Sharpe.
The 6-foot-8, 275-pound Sharpe has basically come out of nowhere to now one of the most highly recruited prospects in the country."
To me... "...coming out of nowhere..." means... that he was basically unknown until recently to the recruiting world.
I appreciate that posters on this board, like GATORAZ and other have cleared this up... but to the casual observer... it just looked like the article mentioned that Sharpe just came out of nowhere ...to just be discovered.
And that he goes to school in Jacksonville... made it even more confusing.
I, for one... am glad that our coaches are on this one.

DeBigLeezard what probably happen is 247 didnt know much about it and once they saw his new offers he shot up in rankings. Sharpe took a visit to Florida during the season I think. If you are a college you try to hide kids for as long as you can while you build a relationship with them. Bama knew about that huge 2014 DT out of Tennessee since last summer and they kept it quiet until they offered him in Feb.
Still dont understand why Sharpe shot up in ranking with no camps or anything they probably saw him play basketball.

So no doubt he's been following the Gators closely in the NCAA tournament right now!

We know how that usually goes, but if that's what he's looking for a in a school, we go straight to the top.

Sharpe was on radio this morning and said he loves the Gators. He said Muschamp calls and/or text him every other day.
