I never doubted our 2nd half effort. We drove the ball to the hoop a lot, which takes effort. We just missed so many layups and wide open 3s, probably 4 or 5 of each in the 2nd half. Make the layups and a decent % of the 3s and its a comfortable win. Granted, the layups were difficult and contested, but a good team makes them. Comes back to fatigue.

Braxton didn't help much either. He took himself out of position on an inbounds play beneath UTs basket for an easy 2 late in the game. He tried, but didn't look comfortable.

This. You whiners seem to conveniently forget all of the nickle-and-dimers that Tenn was called for defending Young in the first half.

When your PG is by far your leading rebounder, then that's a huge problem, regardless of who is out.

Yep.

Yes you did stop our offense very well while there but yes I was holding a grudge. From the day you got here and every time I hear you speak and your excitement about coaching our Gators, working your tale off and being a straight shooter, you are now one of my all time favorite coaches. Thanks coach.

Donovan's post-game comments were, as always, very insightful and made me feel better about where the team stands. Donovan said the lost was due to two reasons - poor shooting and poor rebounding. He was clear. He liked the looks we got. We just missed them.

Without even looking at what Yugete and Frazier directly provide, fresher legs would surely help. Ordinarily, rebounding would be a serious red flag. I don't believe that it is an area of grave concern because the team was an extremely solid rebounding team prior to the loss of the Frenchman. As for shooting woes, I'd rather lose because we were taking good shots and missing than the reverse. I'd add one caveat. I am concerned about Boynton's shooting. Florida is simply a much better offensive team when he is shooting well. Unfortunately, that seems like a pretty iffy proposition.

“We could be a high-octane offensive team that scores a lot of points, but if we don’t defend and rebound it’s not going to make a difference,” Donovan said. “That is going to be something that is going to be a driving force for our team. They need to understand the importance of that.”
