Obviously he'll have some rust to work off in the first few games, but before he had surgery it seems like he was somewhat limited due to the pain/tendinitis in his knee, with the bone chips gone is it possible we see an even more active Yeguete in the tourneys?
When it was first reported many fans feared that was the last of Will this season. Then it was back for the post season, hopefully the tournament. Now it is this weekend.
I just hope he is close to what he was originally and has a full range of motion and is able to do the things defensively he gave to this team when he was on the floor. I also hope that he can hold up for the two tourneys without swelling coming back. If he can do that then it makes this team a lot tougher come March.
We need him at the start of the SEC tournament to get his legs ready for the NCAAs and provide depth for hopefully a conference championship. I don't care if our ranking drops a little bit because of his absence while recovering. Rankings don't matter. If we are at full-strength and play to our abilities, I firmly believe we can beat any team in the country in March / April.

I'm with you on this. I do want to win the regular season title and the tourney. But I don't want to do it at the expense of slowing WY's progress. I think the timing of his come back is actually pretty perfect. He should be getting his legs completely back by our first SEC tourney game. That would be fantastic.

It won't happen. This isn't Billy's first rodeo. He knows what the priority is and he'll make the correct decision about Will.
I'm not a doctor, but I don't think the criteria is really that difficult. You bring him along slowly, pay careful attention to how he feels and watch for any swelling or discomfort.
If there is none, then you continue to bring him along.

As a totally unbiased, completely objective Gator fan, I can tell you that Will Yeguete will actually become the greatest basketball player of all time when he returns. He will totally live up to his nickname "TigerShark" and then some. You have my word.

I think your optimism is warranted.
I think there's a good chance that the returning Yeguete will be (after a game or two) playing pain-free for the first time since early this season when he was at his disruptive best and was stealing the ball right out of opposing players hands with such ease that I was comparing him to past UNC defensive great Dudley Bradley (who was once nicknamed The Secretary of Defense )
No way they will bring him back any earlier than is safe. Whether he is better than he was will likely depend on how much conditioning he lost. Those guys go through some really amazing conditioning and especially the way Will plays, he will need to get back in shape.
Hopefully we beat UT tonight, get Will and Frazier II back, win the SEC, win the SEC tourny, and get to the Final Four. If we get there, we can beat anybody in the country on a good night.
Just read Billy D's comments from yesterdays presser. They have Yeguete wearing a knee brace that he doesn't like wearing. It looks like the doctors are only letting him back on the court with a knee brace. I hope Will doesn't let it hinder his play.
I also caught that Billy is hedging on Yeguete and Frazier II playing against bama. He said Frazier II still has to pass concussion tests so he is questionable. On Yeguete, Billy said he won't know until Thursday as Yeguete must be fully released to Thursdays practice by the doctors.
When Prather returned after his high ankle sprain, they brought him along slowly. His first game back, I think he got less than 5 minutes. The next game, seems like it was a dozen or so. The next game, he was at his usual number.
I expect to see the same progression over a couple of weeks for Will.
he is going to most likely have some atrophy issues at first, he won't be very confident in it. it'll feel weak which he might think is related to the knee when it's not. then come tourney time as it builds up strength...then yes, he will certainly be a lot more active

Actually, I think that the 3rd game was Arkansas where Yeguete got hurt, thus, he was forced to play more and less well than he should have.
Expect Yeguete to get about 5-8 minutes against Bama, with Frazier, if he is fully released likely getting 10-15 (less recovery once a concussion is past).
