2013 Florida High School Boys Basketball Championships
Malone was 25-2 going into this game with the best team in the panhandle. It looks like 6ft 10in Chris was a one man team, scoring half their 55 points. Can't wait to see him as a Gator.

I think my favorite part is hearing how he took the game over defensively in the paint. That tends to be the way to getting playing time faster than offensive production under Billy.

8A? There are way, way too many classifications now. Doesn't Indiana just have one? Granted, Florida has roughly 3x Indiana's population, but still.

Well, I don't think it's too many classes. On the one hand if you have a school with maybe just 200 students and on the other hand you have high schools with maybe 4,000 or more students, you have to try and keep the competition fair as much as possible.
If Indiana lumps all their schools into just one class, I don't think that's fair to their smaller schools. Even if the larger schools in Indiana may be only about 2,500 or so.

Playing Hawthorne next. Porter from Hawthorne might be the top 10 grader in the state.
That should be a good game to watch. Seen Porter 3 times, he will be a top 25 player his senior year.

Chris is usually defended by 2 and 3 of the opposition. because the remaining players on the team are not that good. He also makes up a huge part of their defense. Beating Malone was a big deal in the panhandle. Malone had beat one the top large schools in Alabama earlier, as well as bigger schools in Florida. Remember, Bonifay and Malone only have about 20 or so boys in the entire senior classes. These are smaaaaaall schools.

If you want to keep the competition fair than maybe we should stop the high schools from recruiting...especially the private schools.

almost unheard of these days

You don't have to in high school.
BTW, I am encouraged by this burst of competitive fire associated with a team they have lost to in the past, his dropping a bit in the ratings and the column that said he was one of the most likely top prospects to bust in this class.
As for qualifying, I don't know if he is worrying about grades or test scores or both, but there was similar talk about Harvey and he qualified. An interesting bit of information will be if he goes to the McDonald's AA game. If he does, one might think he is ok in his current classes.

Yeah really, "you gotta grow up sometime?"
If you're a really good B-ball player, you pretty much have to leave your hometown and go to prep school? Can't he just play summer ball with all of those kids?
Strange. But I don't follow HS b-ball like I do football.

"Future Gator Chris Walker had 20 points, 13 rebounds and 13 blocks as Holmes County held off a furious rally in the final minute to upset No. 1 Hawthorne, 51-48, in the Class 1A boys state semifinals at The Lakeland Center on Tuesday."
From TOS
This kid is beast mode! Triple double in the state semis ... what will he do to top this in the final?
