It says that anyone who would qualify for a permit under current guidelines could carry concealed without getting a formal permit. People who determine themselves qualified would be exempt from having to actually get a permit.

Actually, I like that second law. I think I'd advocate for some kinda website thing where you could check based on driver's license or social security or something to see if you're eligible, and maybe voluntarily ID yourself as a CC firearm owner. There's no reason for law-abiding citizens to go through their BS.

Supporters said the state needs to ban police from enforcing any future federal assault-weapons ban in the state. They argue it would undermine what would be an unconstitutional infringement on gun rights, if the federal government were to restrict such weapons.

Wyoming eliminated the requirement of a concealed carry permit to carry a concealed weapon last year. Must be a Wyoming resident at least 21 years old and otherwise meet the qualifications for acquire a permit such as not a felon, not been declared mentally incompetent, not ineligible by other federal or state statute.

We call it Constitutional Carry.

I wonder if you guys ever go back and read what you type. Perhaps in the state of WY they don't have the same psychos like other states do and feel that law fits their state and its residents best. Good for them sticking with the constitution. I wish the federal government wouldn't over reach like it tries to do with almost every aspect of our lives and leave some laws to the states like I don't know..... Healthcare!

And our firearm homicide rate per 100,000 is about 1/3 of the national average.

I can tell you with certainty that if someone tried to shoot up a movie theater or mall in Wyoming, they would face multiple shooters in return.

Yep. The Canada provinces abutting Montana, Idaho and North Dakota have much more restrictive gun laws. Yet the homicide rates in the three adjoining states are actually lower than the Canadian Provinces.
